How many High School friends do you actually keep in touch w

Other than on facebook.

One of my friends owns the local Arbyss (plural) and I see her at times.

One of them cuts my hair

I see others around but not to actually seek out

And you?

Re: How many High School friends do you actually keep in tou

It's been nine years since I've seen any of my high school friends in real life.

The fact that I live 150 miles from my high school is a big part of the reason. Another is that many of my friends live even further away than that.

A good half dozen or so, although they're old neighborhood friends more than
school buddies I suppose. Mass, RI, NY and CT.. we know 84 and 95 intimately.

High school friends- none.

However, I keep in touch with about 30 college friends. Every May we have a golf weekend with about 25 of us, and we and our wives get together for various things a few times a year.

Re: How many High School friends do you actually keep in tou

For a bunch of years, there was a guy who lived 4-5 houses down the street who was a year ahead of me in high school. Which was a remarkable coincidence since we live 200 miles from where we grew up. It was nice - our kids were on Little League teams together and we'd chat it up about old times.

He moved to a different part of my town a couple of years ago, so now I don't see him except very rarely at a school function.

I don't see or talk to anyone else from high school. I stopped visiting the area in 2012 when my folks moved to Florida so I'd not really have a specific reason to go back.

I had two close high school friends. One of them died two years ago. I hadn't heard from the other in a bit, and tracked him down to talk about the first -- and was stunned to learn he had made some very bad decisions as a doctor, lost his license and was in jail. I keep in touch with others on Facebook, but those would be the only two I'd talk to outside of that.

I've seen guys a few times, mostly at social events, sometimes we're at the same Mets game, but I don't hang regularly with anyone. Only one friend I know of lives near enough to me to hang out, we even have mutual non-HS friends, but I haven't seen her in 30 years.

tbh, I kind of like having passive fb relationships with most of them and would only want to see a few more regularly than I already do. And those are the ones who haven't become deranged Trumptards.

Very rarely do I see my high school classmates, the fact that I am over 300 miles away and in a different country plays a part in that....on a serious note I have found as the years have passed and we are all getting older I am seeing less of them on yearly trips home, two just died recently

Now that you mention this, I do have a friend from high school who I often see at Mets games, her and her aunt have two seats in the upper deck for half of the home games every year (they have some 40 game plan I think?), and I ran into her by chance with Fboy waiting in line at Shake Shack. I do try to ping her on IG when we are at the game to see if I can make my way over to her seats to say hello, if it's one of the half of games she has seats for.

One occasionally on facebook., because he was a college buddy, too.
My best friend in High School and the best man at my wedding passed away a few years ago and I only found out this year.

I just go to reunions. I moved away to go to college. There used to be a classmate of mine in the area, but I've never looked her up; we weren't that close.

Three I keep in regular contact with 30 years later; another three more I have semi-regular contact with.

My three closest friends from high school and I endure despite distance. Had a great time with them at Citi Field this past July. Another friend connected to that group I'm not really in touch with directly but we always fall back into our chumminess at weddings, funerals and the like.

Three with some regularity after over-40 years and living 3,000 miles away from that high school (although one of those three also lives in New York and another upstate). A few others that one of the others is sometimes in touch with.

I am quite pleased with the responses here. I did not go to college, so for me, high school is the place that I remember.

I'm happy that so many of you, despite a long distance have had the opportunity to stay in touch.

I live in the same town that I grew up in; I have it easy :)

Maybe 15-16? I'm in and out of my old hometown almost weekly, so I see folks every now and again in their neighborhood watering holes, or while hanging out on family members' stopped. Weirdly, I see/grab drinks with more HS acquaintances than I do with my closer HS friends (with whom I still exchange birthday wishes and other semi-regular periodic contact).

Lots of FB contact kept, at least with the ones who didn't go Trumpy or otherwise weird.

Re: How many High School friends do you actually keep in tou

Lets see, I am now 40 years and 300+ miles removed from high school. As the years have passed by, I have slowly lost touch with all but one of my high school friends. My best friend (now a lawyer in Philadelphia) and I rarely see each other, but when we do it is as if we have never been apart. I last saw him (his wife and oldest son) during a conference in Philadelphia 4 years ago and we had a wonderful time.

The fact that I am not on Facebook, twitter, Instagram, or Snapchat greatly reduces my contact with old friends.

Re: How many High School friends do you actually keep in tou

Maybe too many? My main group of friends is still pretty much those from high school or before. Including my wife.

I've got a few friends from college, some that i've been close to at times but right now it's just the occasional email/message.

I'm hoping entering Kindergarten next year will bolster my friend count, but judging by how awkward I am around the other daycare parents I'm not holding my breath.

None outside of social media and the one reunion we had for our 20th.

Re: How many High School friends do you actually keep in tou

Well, this isn't really a high school friend, but today I had an experience that made me think of this thread.

I was checking my messages after being out of the office for a long weekend, when I spotted a message that surprised me. Amidst the prescription refill requests, insurance claim EOBs, and phone messages from patients was one that totally took me by surprise. It was in our receptionists writing and it simply said that Chris L. wanted me to call him and listed a California phone number. My receptionist asked me if I knew who that was and I told her yes, but I had not seen or heard from him since my family moved from California to Minnesota in December of 1969. She said he told her that we had been best friends in 3rd grade and seemed pretty excited to have located me. She said he had wanted to find me since we moved away. I called the number he had left from my office after I had finished seeing patients for the day. We talked, reminisced and caught up on 50 years for almost an hour. It was weird, but it was almost as if we had never really been apart.

Wow. I had a best friend named Lisa that moved away in third grade. We wrote letters back in forth into our twenties, became mommies, and lost touch.

We are facebook friends but I honestly hardly ever look at her page.
