Unloading the Cano Contract

Might as well get it started now.

Let's all have a discussion about Robinson Cano. No question that one of Brodie's main objectives will be to find a taker for Robinson Cano and his hefty contract. Any takers out there? I know he has a no-trade, but he's been so unhappy as a Met you'd think he'd at least be open to a change of scenery.

Obviously we're going to have to eat a chunk of that money. How much do you think it will take?

$20 million to an AL team after the 2021 season.

Maybe Brodie is smarter than I give him credit for and plans to ditch Cano in the first 2 years, whether Cano is helping the team or not. I'm going to hope Cano is productive this year and he gets traded to an AL team in the 2019 offseason. Brodie will offer the same $3.75M per year for the last 4 years to whatever team takes him. I will consider that a massive bullet dodged.

In two years, 29 other teams will laugh at the guy running things after Brodie is fired. It'll be un-dumpable unless the Mets eat virtually all of it.

I did think it was weird that they fired him after winning two straight World Series two years from now, but I never really understood the Wilpons.

The 100-game juice suspension in '19 is still too fresh, can't be done

Who the hell is gonna want Cano years from now? It's pretty much a lock that the Mets bought the part of Cano's career where he becomes a crappy unplayable scrub.

if everything goes great, he hits to his career averages and the Mets win the WS, you still try to trade his ass in the offseason.

If we tried to move Cano right now, we wouldn't be able to do it.

For the time being (1-2 years at least) he's a big part of the plan and talking
about moving him seems silly to me on 2-3 levels. Cano waived a no trade clause
to come back to NYC with the understanding the Mets are going all in right NOW!!!

I figure he'll be here for at least three years. Maybe back to the AL for the last two if the Mets send along enough salary relief.

Maybe the NL will adopt the DH in a few years.

I'd rather they pay Cano $20 million to pinch hit once a week.
