We lost the original thread off the back end a while back, but Craig Carton, ex-co morning man on WFAN, has been found guilty on ALL charges of fraud and embezzlement and faces up to 45 years in prison. Shit, even gangsters and murderers usually slide on a couple of charges.

As these sports TV and radio shows feel obligated to put up hosts and guests who claim to be expert gamblers when it comes to the games they supposedly cover, it never seems to occur to them that maybe some of the ones they hire are merely degenerate gamblers passing off their jones as insight but who then require something above and beyond their salaries in order to cover their losses. Actually I think it occurs to them all the time but they either can't tell the difference or simply don't care.

I dunno. I actually thought Carton was okay when he started that show and his dickishness seemingly grew with his debts.

Carton seems like the type of douchebag who loves our current administration because they "tell it like it is," and he sees himself in that mold, just poorer and stupider.

my post from the original thread remains unchanged: As a broadcaster, Craig Carton was the whole package... arrogant, stupid, mean-spirited, with a voice like nails on a chalkboard. And he wasn't nearly funny enough to justify any of it. he was the biggest reason i stopped listening to FAN in the morning and switched to Mike & Mike on ESPN. OF all the assholes on the radio that i've endured over the years, he was the assholiest. This couldn't have happened to a more deserving lowlife.

Well apparently he's currently in a name-calling war with just about everyone else on that station (and that's with Carton gone who was the first guy he got into it with) so maybe someone will finally get fed up and issue some frontier justice on his ass.

I'm not suggesting anything -- but if it happens ... But seriously folks, what appears to be happening is that the 'little' folks over there are starting to give on-air rants about what an ass he is (possibly more so since his unretirement) whereas years ago no one would say a word for fear of either management reprisals or of never being permitted to touch the hem of his garment.

My favorite thing about Francesa is when someone will call in and ask about something that happened the night before, and he'll say he didn't see it so he can't talk about it. Dude, it's 4 in the afternoon and it's literally your job to see what happened the night before. Make an effort, dick.
