I saw a bunch of people holding him out like some folk hero. DWI is serious business. People can die. It's not funny and the guy is not some champion to rally around.

It sounded like you were saying we shouldn't idolize anyone with a DWI, but I'm now getting that you meant just not to applaud the DWI itself.
