An open appeal to G-Fafif

Please pull whatever strings you can pull to get invited to the upcoming Jeurys Familia press conference.

Once there, push your way to the front of the room, throwing as many elbows as you deem necessary, and confront the pitcher directly.

"Señor Familia, please let us know how to pronounce your first name."

Last night on Mets Hot Stove, Steve Gelbs and Gary Apple said "Jay-or-Reese". (They're probably scared shitless to defy Gary Cohen.) Nelson Figueroa called him "Jore-reese", and Adam Fisher said "Zhoris". (Rhymes with Boris, but the first consonant sounds like the Zs in "Zsa Zsa" or the J in "Jean Valjean" if you pronounce it all Frenchy.) Anthony Recker avoided saying the name entirely.

I recall Sandy Alderson saying "Joris" and Daniel Murphy saying "Yoris". I believe it's "Yoris" but this needs to be settled!

I love the visual of a fired up Greg, elbowing his way to the front.

We really need to hear from the man himself.

Can't someone tweet him?

Re: An open appeal to G-Fafif

In the old days they'd just give him a white name like "Jerry"

Maybe he and Blevins can trade names

When my sister was a journalism student at NYU, she had the opportunity to sit in on a group interview of the de facto star of the new late night variety program "Saturday Night" that aired live on NBC. Her question:

"Is it cheh-vee' or 'sheh-vee'?"

His answer:

"Yes."

Hopefully Jay-or-Yoris isn't as much of a smartass as Chevy Chase is.

But be sure to bring your sister to the press conference!

It's Cornelius Crane Chase. Very blue blood. Old New York, going back 14 generations and descended from the Van Cortlandts and the Schuylers.

I've been reassessing Corny and his legacy a lot in recent weeks.

Wow!!! Great find!

I had my money on Yoris. Who would have thought that it was Jerry, of all things!?!

Can someone who knows how to use Twitter make sure that this gets in front of Gary Cohen?

Maybe he's saying "Jerris", but with a Spanish accent.

Yeah, I'm hearing a very slight "s" in there.

Re: An open appeal to G-Fafif

Yeah, me too. It's more likely that what he's saying is "Jerries".

But I'm serious that we need to get this in front of Gary Cohen STAT! (That's medical talk for "fast".)

How can we do that?
