Other than in headlines celebrating his late-inning dramatics, I don't recall anybody ever referring to Wilmer as Wil. But if the character count fits...

I think it's going to come down to a three-way battle between SucCESs, the best Wright cover and the best deGrom cover!

It doesn't seem to be playing out quite that way, aside from the fact that in a single-elimination tournament like this one, the final battle can't be between three entries!

Omigod! There's so much uplifting going on with these two covers that I don't know how I'm gonna vote. I think my head's gonna explode from all this uplifting. It's one cover where the Mets did something positive against another cover where the Mets did something positive. And the positives are cancelling each other out. Not like when there's a positive cover against a negative cover, where I can just ptooh ptooey on the negative cover all on account of the negativity. I think I'm gonna take the Delorean for a spin back in time to figure out which of these two games uplifted me the most.

Well, yeah, there would have to be a semi-finals battle in there somewhere. It's nice that we have some shining moments to celebrate in an often-gloomy season.

I'm pretty sure any remaining David Wright cover would be the odds on favorite to make it to the finals. That cover could have a picture of a pile of shit and Donald Trump's vomit on it and still win so long as it's about Wright's farewell. Which reminds me of that Hallmark movie about the handsome baseball player trying to come back from a terrible back injury. On his way to the stadium for what would be his last game, he rescued a kitty cat from a tree about as tall as the Chrysler Building and then he helped a pregnant woman who was having a baby in the street. When it was all over, the kitty cat from the Chrysler Building tree licked the new mommy on the face and then the mommy adopted the kitty to take home with the baby. When the movie was over, I had to go out and sing Christmas carols door to door to stop myself from crying all over myself.

Wilmer's side eye and grin look a little evil. Looks like he wants to knife that bruh in the back.

The final poll from Round Three has now closed, with GOOD WIL! of the Daily News defeating Newsday's SUCCESS. With the elimination of the last Yoenis Cespedes cover, along with the earlier elimination of the final Noah Syndergaard cover, we're now assured that this year's ultimate winner will feature a player whose picture has never before been displayed behind Maja's desk in Stockholm.

GOOD WIL! is now one step away from the Final Four, and seems to be favored to get there; it's next opponent is MIDNIGHT BADNESS, which faces a daunting challenge.

Fourth-round voting will get underway in January. And if you've read our announcement, either in this forum, in your e-mail, or on the CPF Facebook page, you'll know that that voting will occur in our new location.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE TABLOID COVER DERBY! We'll see you in 2019!
