ROMA was easily the best movie I've seen this year. Most other years as well. I'm probably forgetting a few but others I've liked: SHOPLIFTERS THE DEATH OF STALIN ISLE OF DOGS Others that I've seen that once I see more 2018 movies surely won't make any top ten of mine: THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS BLACKKKLANSMAN MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS

If it's kidz fare ye seek, ye want to check out Into the Spider Verse. Wonderfully human, delightfully animated, and maybe the best superhero movie I've ever seen. Isle of Dogs, Black Kkklansman, Sorry to Bother You, Black Panther, and Death of Stalin were also on my shortlist.

I don't get to the movies much these days. My children don't like watching movies for some reason so I don't even get to see the kid-friendly movies. Looking through my list of movie reviews, here are the 2018 releases I saw ranked roughly from best to worst: Eighth Grade Won't You Be My Neighbor Black Panther Avengers: Infinity War Ant Man & Wasp The Incredibles 2 Pandas - IMAX movie at the aquarium Zombies - Disney Channel Original Movie, comically bad

The thing is that it was supposedly a great year for films, but between what I've seen in the theatres, and what my download services have been offering me, I ain't quite seeing it.

Not that I'm even the smallest bit Asian ... but I've long had an aversion to plots where the (usually related) characters are mostly loud, obnoxious, and generally just people you wouldn't want to spend 10 minutes with much less your life or even a holiday. But the movie is then passed off with the reasoning that because these characters are all [insert ethnicity here] that all these obnoxious traits become quite charming and humorous. Ummm, no they don't. Not sure how closely CRA follows this trend, but I'm not all that anxious to find out. Just my two Yen.

I don't get to go to the movies much. Almost always with my daughter. So this year we saw: Avengers: Infinity War Solo Spiderverse Incredibles 2 Black Panther Christopher Robin Rampage (My wife picked this one.) Won't You Be My Neighbor (Which was available on a Delta flight!)

SORRY TO BOTHER YOU, DEATH OF STALIN and A QUIET PLACE got screwed by the Oscar nominators this year.
