The Cubs score six runs in the 14th inning as another strong outing from Jacob deGrom is wasted.

Good over bad.

Happy over sad.

Every time.

I went with Badness. I typically like positive covers as well, but I just don't like the look of the Wilmer cover. He looks strange. It doesn't capture the moment well. And in many ways, the Badness cover is more symbolic of the Mets' season.

It's 5-3 Badness. I guess the uplifters haven't voted yet.

It was 5-4 for BADNESS but now it's 6-3! Somebody has done the Walter White thing, switching from GOOD to BADNESS.

I didn't like that Wilmer cover in the last round either. His smile is kinda "here's Johnny" creepy.

The MIDNIGHT BADNESS picture is emblematic of so much of last season. The GOOD WIL! picture is emblematic of one nice night.

While the Snooze continues to lead the way in the Derby, the editor who oversaw these contending covers finds himself tied up for recycling. Eric Barrow has been dismissed and, according to a memo he sent around before leaving, the position of sports editor has been eliminated.

Ah, who needs sports in a big city tabloid with multiple teams in every professional sport?

Yeah, that was me. I thought I voted for BADNESS but apparently I clicked the wrong one.

I hate to say it but it looks like we might be seeing the last days of the Daily News. I don't think I will miss any of their writing, but their back covers are iconic. I would hate to lose them.

Also would totally fuck up our yearly derby.

Damn what a travesty, I liked when the 2 tabs were infused with the energy of fighting one another, now it's no contest.

I like the old school DN back covers better than the new ones even though the old ones were b&w.

My guess is that the "sports editing" is going to come out of Chicago and the Tribune headquarters.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty surprised at how this poll is turning out. I wouldn't have thought that the cover that defeated SUCCESS would lose to MIDNIGHT BADNESS.

Who are these mystery voters who are automatically presumed to be choosing one cover or another? It's just the same bunch of us over and over.

In perhaps the most surprising upset of this competition, bad-news cover MIDNIGHT BADNESS has defeated the celebratory GOOD WIL! featuring the much-loved Wilmer Flores.

So GOOD WIL! won't, while MIDNIGHT BADNESS becomes the first cover this year to punch its ticket to the Final Four.

How does Maja feel about all these new Barker Beauties? I can't imagine this is sitting well.

Re: 2018 Tabloid Cover Derby Round 4.01

She's rarely around the office anymore because she's so busy with her TV show. (Her title is now Receptionist Emeritus.) I'd like to think she's okay with Marissa and Shelby. I asked about it and Stockholm replied, "Maja säger att hon föraktar de smutsiga horarna." So it sounds like all is good!

I didn't realize Maja referred to herself in the third person in her native Swedish as well.
