IGT 3/28/2019: NYM @ WAS -- Clean(er) Slate

DeGrom. Scherzer. Probably. It's only 179 days away.

And now it's only 70 days away.

Original thread was here, though despite many personnel machinations these past 109 days, there hasn't been any scoring.

Re: IGT 3/28/2019: NYM @ WAS -- Clean(er) Slate

I think Frazier should ride pine against Scherzer and we should get scrappy McNeil a start here. Go w/ Lagares or Broxton for D.

What say you?

Nimmo - RF (L)

Lowrie - 3B (S)

Cano - 2B (L)

Conforto - LF (L)

Ramos - C (R)

McNeil - 1B (L)

Lagares - CF (R)

deGrom - P (L)

Rosario - SS (R)

Re: IGT 3/28/2019: NYM @ WAS -- Clean(er) Slate

That's not bad. But I read this morning that Mickey says he intends to lock McNeil in between Nimmo and Cano.

Which is weird, to think that he has no position, but allegedly has a spot in the batting order locked down.

Re: IGT 3/28/2019: NYM @ WAS -- Clean(er) Slate

That sounds like Mickey.

Because other managers see three lefties in a row and think to themselves “that's crazy. How the hell do I matchup against that?”

Going to miss the entire game due to work - doing a training the entire week of March 25-29 and won't be able to work from home and watch, or listen in real time. I can't watch the replay, either, as I play darts on Thursday nights. Bummed.

Re: IGT 3/28/2019: NYM @ WAS -- Clean(er) Slate

Guessing McNeil will get the OD start at third. Still undetermined if the Mets will keep both Dom and Pete, but an argument can be made for either to start. Maybe even give the nod to Dom against the tough righty. And while I'm at it, Broxton > Lagares already. Something like this?

Nimmo - RF (L)

McNeil - 3B (L)

Cano - 2B (L)

Conforto - LF (L)

Ramos - C (R)

Dom?? - 1B (L)

Broxton - CF (R)

deGrom - P (L)

Rosario - SS (R)

Michael Taylor will be out for an extended period after busting up both his knee and hip in spring training. Howie Kendrick is hurt, too, and Bryce Harper is expected to be unavailable for 13 years.

Maybe Austin Jackson is going to get a call after all.

They really don't throw out the first pitch too much any more. Obama did only one Opening Day, in DC, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first presidential first pitch, and the All-Star Game in St. Louis. Truman, by comparison, did it seven times.

It has to be a security nightmare in an open-air stadium surrounded by office buildings.

George W did it a bunch of times during and post-presidency, but we know he's a fan. Last time was with his dad during the 2017 World Series.

Downtown is already pretty crazy. Starts at 7 p.m., and the line already is so long that I don't think everyone is going to get in. Lots of vendors. I walked around a little bit and got some things for the collection. I'm sending my staff home early because rush hour is going to be a disaster once they start closing down streets.

First and third, grounder to third. Robles broke back toward the bag. McNeil, looking him back, lost time for the double-play. But he still had time to get the runner at first. He threw to second, and THEN Robles broke for the plate, perhaps thinking there was going to be a relay to first. and our new secondbaseman hung him out to dry.

    He hung himself out, really.

And the 38-12 OD record is as cool as it is unexplainable.

Never before heard the 'stat' Gary quoted about it being the best 50-year streak for any team in any sport.

Well, maybe not the Globetrotters, or probably the personal hoops squad for Kim il-Sung/Kim Jong-Il/Kim Jong-Un, but you get the idea.

If he's gonna play the heel, he might as well play it as a Phillie. Meanwhile, the Nats (the winless Nats) not only lost their best player, they've lost all their character.

They go into game two not having yet scored their first run. Harper's name is going to be all over their press clippings tomorrow.
