Re: Hector Santiago

I'm looking at his stats and I'm trying to determine if he was ever not crappy. Maybe 2015? But his advanced stats say he should've been crappy then, too.

Re: Hector Santiago

Well, at least it's a possibe lefty arm for the bullpen. I hate that his WHIP has been increasing each of the past 3 seasons. His WHIP (1.588) and BB/9 (5.3) were at career high levels last year. At least his K/9 (9.1) was solid.

As bad as Blevins was last season, his number were superior to Santiago. Last season Blevins posted WHIP (1.359) and BB/9 (4.6) and K/9 (8.6).

I certainly hope there is another (better) lefty arm to be added to the pen.

Re: Hector Santiago

Well, he's certainly got potential ... to join Miguel Cairo and Claudell Washington on the Mets' All-World Capital Team.

Apart from that, it's a minor league dealio, so he's gonna have to sing for his supper.

Re: Hector Santiago

If you remember Matt Harvey flirting with a perfect game against the White Sox (the nosebleed game), that was Santiago keeping the Mets off the board as the opposition starter. Much was made of his growing up a Mets fan in Jersey.

It was six years ago, but still impressive.

Re: Hector Santiago

Like most minor-league signings, I have zero problem adding him for depth but hope he isn't needed.
