What do you do when you have a righthanded centerfielder who gives you speed and lotsa defense, but after a few years, has only hinted at coming around with the bat? Well, you're Brodie Van Wagenen, you go out and get another righthanded centerfielder who gives you speed and lotsa defense. In fact, you give up three players for him. I'm Keon Broxton, and I'm that guy.

Oh, you can scoff, but good defense has value, even in this whifftastic age. How that works out for me and Laggy, it's not clear, but it'll probably work out pretty good for Jacob deGrom. That's not nothing.

So, how do you think this all plays out? i don't know anything. Even when I fight authority, authority always wins.

He's out of options, according to mlb.com.

As if that means anything in his case.

Re: Hey, Nineteen: Keon Broxton

Could youse guys up there take a better shot at this exercise?

My crystal ball is cloudy until they resolve the Lagares situation but it seems to indicate Laggy will be dealt to the first team whose CF is injured in spring training.

Worried that this guy's underwhelming numbers take a hit in CitiField but will say brings some value anyway, he gets about 300 PAs, hits 12 homers, OBPs at 300, steals a bunch of bases and brings some brotherly soul to the club. Makes friends with Dom Smith and they hang out around town.

Re: Hey, Nineteen: Keon Broxton

His walk rate is generally pretty prolific, which is no small asset for somebody with an established ability to steal second. If nothing else, those are two tools Laggy has never really exhibited.

Re: Hey, Nineteen: Keon Broxton

So much is unclear about him. Two outfielders essentially doing the same job, neither getting consistent at-bats, as one would expect McNeil/Nimmo/Conforto against righties.

.222/10/30 with 20 SB

Re: Hey, Nineteen: Keon Broxton

Not sure he gets enough ABs to steal 20, although he may pinch run a lot and I agree with the stat line otherwise. I don't see him breaking out of the late inning PH/PR/defensive sub role.

I'll predict one of them, more likely Broxton, establishes himself and wins the job outright before Memorial Day. .240/.340/.440 with nice defense and 20 steals over 500 PA

I guess I'm in LS's camp with a sprinkle of smg thrown in.

Yeah, me too. He's the type of guy where you say "if Keon Broxton gets 400 PA, then this team is in trouble."
