Being the first Irish-born Major Leaguer in multiple generations is cool. I'm only the second one ever born in Belfast. Falls Road, for fuck's sake.

But that's all novelty, and novelty wears off. And after getting a few games in with the big club, my minor league season fell to pieces. I've been removed from the roster, and the dream starts all over again.

But I'm back in camp. Power is cool — not as cool as being Irish, but power is cool. But I don't bring the power. I'm a soft-tossing lefty and the world still needs one or two of those. My stuff won't blow you away, but it got me to the bigs, and I'm counting on it to help me stick.

Cad a cheapann tú? What do you see here?

His future is in the pen. But anybody with a fully functional left arm and a pulse can hang around for a while. Gets a shot in September, makes enough of an impression that he sticks next year.

Almost no shot. He'll need a lot of things to go wrong for the big club, AND do a lot of things right for himself, and as we know he's probably marginal at best going in.

Good luck, Peej!

Gets some injury time mid-summer and hangs around rest of the way on merit.

He'll get some innings mid-summer, but not enough to make a major impact.
