In the best (mental) shape of my life

For at least the second or third year in a row now, the POST's Kevin Kernan is filing all the pre-ST stories on the Mets

Today's he's talking about Matz and the changes he's made to his mental routine, changes which will either mean a lot or maybe nothing, who knows.

A couple of stats are thrown in which indicate that maybe Matz is on the verge of turning a corner, but they're all pretty selective in nature so you can take or leave them.

Re: In the best (mental) shape of my life

Which leads to a question. If a player cannot perform because of mental illness for a short period of time (unlike Cleveland first baseman Tony Horton, who never came back from a breakdown) is he injured or disabled?

Later

OE: Or should this be moved to the re-naming of the DL thread?

Maybe he'll be less inclined to stomping his feet and pouting when his inning gets tough. Cause that's baby shit.

Pete Harnisch spent some on the DL with depression, IIRC. Mental illness is an injury/disability like any other, I'd say.

Yes, it is definitely a disability. But is it an "injury"? The question was about semantics and the name of the list.

Yeah, technically it's not an "injury". Maybe a better name would be the "Unavailable List".
