There is nothing more disheartening then seeing a newly added guy injure himself during Spring Training. It is the shortest route to ruin.

Is this the record for "new guy hurts himself"?

I feel like Scott Erickson, apart from coming up injured while warming up for his debut, also got hurt at the top of his first (and only) Mets camp.

Brandon Nimmo has reportedly been held out of practice with shoulder soreness.

They'll bring him along slowly.

Re: Resuming Baseball Activities - Injuries 2019

Diagnosis is left knee capsule sprain. Opening Day probably Jedless. Good news is if Lowrie's out long enough, getting him back will be like "adding a Jed Lowrie" at the deadline.

Or "with the Lowrie insurance money added to that from Wright and Cespedes, the Mets could be in position to significantly add to payroll in 2020..."

Rosario's x-ray negative.

The problem is, we've learned that that doesn't mean anything. Kevin Plawecki had a negative x-ray last year and he missed six weeks. (I'm totally guessing at the amount of time here.)

There were other examples too, but Plawecki is the one that comes to mind.

Lowrie getting better. From Matt Ehalt:

Infielder Jed Lowrie (left knee) hopes he can begin baseball activities soon while Todd Frazier (left oblique) took ground balls for the first time Thursday since being sidelined.

“Making good progress," Lowrie said. "Hopefully with a little bit of testing and making sure things are progressing well, I can begin baseball activities soon.”

Lowrie has been participating in lower-half exercises that he described as low impact. He did not want to speculate on whether he'll be ready for opening day.

“I'm looking at what I can do today because I think the focus has to be on getting this right so there's not a recurrence," Lowrie said.

As I mentioned in the Binghamton thread, Ruben Tejada is back in the organization, and is hitting well in AA.

Hey, he's only 29 years old and it seems like a lifetime since his injury.

Wouldn't it be poetic justice if he came back and led the Mets to the World Series?

And after he drives in the winning run, he could face the tv cameras, give the one finger peace symbol and say, "This is for you, Chase Utley!"

Like I said in a different thread, my guess is it winds up like Bruce last year, where he winds up missing two months but comes back essentially normal. I'm inclined to doubt he could pitch this poorly without an injury.
