(This was the lineup for the rained out 4/8/06 game)

Woodward and Castro playing means that Zambrano is the last Met who broke camp with the team to make his '06 debut.
|
Bret Sabermetric Apr 08 2006 12:54 PM |
Diaz batting 8th?
|
Elster88 Apr 08 2006 12:55 PM |
Flip-flop him with Castro maybe, but I don't see where else to bat him.
|
Elster88 Apr 08 2006 01:09 PM |
Rain delay. Crap.

There's something about the host of Mets Kids Clubhouse that bothers me. I'm sure she's very sweet, but she doesn't seem all that knowledgeable.

Game postponed until July 8th.
|
Yancy Street Gang Apr 08 2006 01:28 PM |
Ugh. I'll be in Alaska on July 8. I guess I end up missing this one.
|
Bret Sabermetric Apr 08 2006 01:31 PM |
You don't think Diaz 2nd and Woodward 8th makes sense?
|
Elster88 Apr 08 2006 01:39 PM |
I'll take whichever has the higher OBP second...I'm not sure who that is.

Through 2005: Woodward .305 OBP, Diaz .329 OBP. Of course Woodward does hold the huge advantage of playing 2b, a major consideration of WWSB's in making out the batting order.

Amazing how some managers insist on having a second baseman in the lineup.

Rainout Theater - SNY is showing the repeat of last night's game. It was a fun game to attend, and I'm enjoying being able to watch the broadcast.

which really does explain why hernandez has been batting in the 8th spot thus far.

JULY 8TH! Why couldnt they play 2 on Sunday? Cripes----------- Okay, I know the answer-greed. (Phils are gonna play 2 tomorrow)

Well, that's Willie's defense if anyone ever accuses him of being totally insane, but I was referencing his insistence on batting Cairo and Matsui second in the order last season. Those two, with atrocious OBPs and few other offensive virtues, batted second in the order in most of last season's games. I think most of us here saw that that wasn't working long before Willie did (if he ever did). When Kaz comes back, let's see if he bats him in the 2 hole or the 8 hole. I'm betting 2, I'm hoping 8. What makes me somewhat optimistic that Kaz will bat 8 is Willie's stubbornness--he's committed publicly to batting Lo Duca 2 and it often takes quite a bit to move WWSB off his chosen policy.

Hey Moron Radio guy alert. Stringer on 1050 ESPN Radio mentions something about the game, then the update guy comments that the stringer had JUST jinixed the game. Well the jinx didn't happen, but the way the update guy said it made me think that something DID happen when in actuality, it DID NOT!

I was really hoping that we would jump all over willis . . . instead it seems that he continues to dominate us. :(

with all these games against the fish & nationals (two TERRIBLE offenses) in 3 great pitcher's parks this is a great year for a no-hitter - or a met pitcher to lead the league in era anyway.

Good stuff. Nice come from behind win against their ace. I hope our bullpen can get us a few of these late inning wins against the better teams too.

Great game. Willis & Glavine both looked pretty dominant tonight. Wright DID get a gift on that triple, but it likely would've been a RBI single regardless.

Ball 3 was awarded when Willis "went to his mouth" on the mound. Why would you lick your hand all the time during a ball game?

Keep it warm, get a good grip. That's what I'd assume.

We had to wait until this day (first Sunday of the season) for the first Mets win last year. I like this much better.

That was an exciting game though, no?

The Mets don't hit Philadelphia until May 9. The Phils may have recovered by then, and the Mets may have tripped up.

I caught that too! Maybe Keith is channeling Ralph Kiner! Boy, did you see how hyped up Dontrelle Willis was during that Mets rally? He wanted to get out of that jam, and it seemed like he just couldn't wait to get the ball and pitch it again. He's fun to watch, and so was this game. I again watched on TiVo-delay, and zipping through commercials it took only about two hours. (I started watching at about 2:15 and finished at about 4:15.)
|
Edgy DC Apr 10 2006 09:45 AM |
Yeah, Keith can tell you about baseball in the abstract inside and out, but I'm not sure he's up to the legwork to be able to tell you about the players actually out there on the field.
