Pick a number

85 wins.

I may be off by one or two from what I posted in the predictions thread, but I think I'll go with 90.

Well, this is a last-chance, no "I didn't realize that Zambrano would twist his panties", etc. opportunity to get your expectations in before the gun goes off. No rooting in this thread, just what you think will happen.

Benjamin Grimm

I'll stick with 90. I think they should be 7 games better than last year.

really?

What are you, a Met-hater? How'd they get 11 games worse over the off-season?

Hey Brett -- Will 85 wins take the East or not? And if not, give me your division winner, # of wins, and why.

Bret Sabermetric
Apr 03 2006 10:21 AM

No. and no Wild Card. Braves first (93) , Phils 2nd (90), Mets 3rd.

Why? The Mets are going to have rotation problems, and keep trading away offensive talent for non-solution veteran starters. I see a trainwreck in September.

I'll go with 87 wins. If Pedro was completely healthy, I would likely up that total by 3-4 more wins. Though the offense should be better than last season, the health of the starting pitching concerns me.

If Pedro does what he did last season then this offence should win more of his quaility starts...last season the Mets were terrible in that.

At the moment, we're not only on pace for 162 wins, but also 162 HR by our 3B, David Wright.

That would make him the youngest player to 200 HR (previously held by Mel Ott, who was 25y 144d).

You heard it here first.

Nady is on track for 648 hits.

Put some predictions down in the predictions thread. Just as no one will mock metirish for putting a high number for Reyes' OBP, no one will mock your low numbers.

[sticks finger up nose] Nah. When I won the thing two years ago, everyone got amnesia. I think that's one of things I did to piss KC off, winning the predictions thing and acting like I expected someone to congratulate me or acknowledge it or some damned thing. This year, I'll pretend to be so dumb I don't know how to cut and paste, and see if that does anything for my popularity around these parts.[/sticks finger up nose]

I'm not pissed off. You didn't get the trophy we sent out? You shoulda said
something, it'd be kinda hard to trace the shipment at this point. Sorry.

105. I always go with cockeyed optimism.

Bret Sabermetric
Apr 04 2006 01:06 PM

I found it distressing, the first 20 or 25 years my optimism left me feeling disappointed. Contempt and pessimism and disdain work so much more efficiently for me.
