I'll be more likely to edit this on a weekly, rather than daily, basis, but it's worth noticing that Jacobs got on the homer board first.

Clear evidence that the Mets were completely duped by the Marlins.

Jake got his home-run stroke going like Bronson Arroyo, but he's not making consistent contact.
And the Mets are looking like early leaders. Let's check the boys.
He walked somebody. He's not his old self. .
Mets taking the expected early lead.

The Mets have four games in San Diego. Delgado can get those back.

Piazza DID catch Uggla, though. I have to say, I did see that Jake had 2 SB's, and was all "what the fuck" until I remembered that Piazza was catching.

So Delgado trys to run away and hide with this one, but the kids aren't giving up quite so easily, but are rather attempting to bridge the gap.
Stay the Hell tuned!

Last night: A week full of whiffing ended for Carlos Delgado when he hit a game-winning homerun to bag a win for the Mets in the 12th innings. He also had an RBI double, a walk, and a nifty sweep tag on a catcher pickoff. Mike Jacobs, his season unravelling rapidly, did not play for the second straight game, but got himself tossed anyway for heckling the home plate umpires ball:strike calls.
Last night: Yusmeiro lost his second straight start, being tagged for eight hits and an uncharacteristic three walks, but only two runs, while striing out five in six innings against the O-Royals of Omaha.
Last night: Grant had been letting up of late, but he played third base for Jupiter lat night and went 3-4 with a homer, a walk, and three RBI as the Hammerheads pounced on the Brevard County Manatees, 11-3 Stay the Hell tuned!

Dude? Are you from the California side of Ireland?
Though he has the reputation of a defensive statue, Carlos Delgado is third among 13 qualifying National League firstbasemen in zone rating. Mike Jacobs is 12th.
Yesterday: Carlos went 1-5 with a a run scored and an RBI, the RBI coming on a groundout during a strange first inning rally in which the Mets scored four times while hitting very little hard. Matching up head-to-head with the guy who replace him in the Met lineup, Mike Jacobs went 0-3 with a walk. In the series, Delgado went 1-9 with his run and RBI, while taking a rare day off, and Jacobs went 2-11 with a run scored and an RBI. Meanwhile in Albuquerque, everything seemed to be trending the wrong way for Yusmeior Petit. He wasn't approaching his strikeout+ per inning rate that he had throughout the lower minors in the Met system, and his 5:1-ish K:BB rate (going from memory) had shrunk to more like 2:1.
But what do they do? They call his large ass up! And pitch him in relief! Which I don't think he's done!
He's pitching like --- how do I say this? --- like Yusmeiro Petit! And I could only be happier for him if he was doing it for the Mets. Last night: With the Mets ahead at a modestly comfortable score, Yussie came in and threw two scoreless innings, giving up two hits, fanning one, and, of course, walking nobiddy. He's only got seven innings, but only Reynel Pinto (un-scored upon in four innings) has a lower relief ERA for the Fishies. Look for him to get beteer spots in the near future.
As the psomastime is approaching, Grant has lost .129 off his OPS in the last 90 or so at-bats. Last night: Grant went 1-3 with an RBI double has the Hammerheads hammered the Palm Beach Cardinals 9-2. He's batting cleanup behind leftfielder Frank Moore, who is starting his season late but landing with a thud, going .533 / .579 / .733 // 1.312 in his first four games with the 'Heads. Uh oh! Love Comes to Town!

We all know what's going on, at least. It's not hard to figure who's gotten the better of this deal so far.

Ubba gubba. Guess which trade is pswinging the wrong way. Way too early.
Most recently: Carlos Delgado has been slumpin' like sumpin', but connected for a solo homer today, his only time on base in five plate appearances. A site I visited today speculated that he's been reading Jose Valentin's notebook and vice versa. Mike Jacobs went 0-4 in yesterday's 1-0 Florida win over Washington, dropping his July OPS to .964 to go with a 1.036 mark for June. Yusmeiro Petit took one on the chin on July 15th, entering a 4-0 Game against and Houston, and exiting an 8-0 game 1 2/3 innings later, giving up a homer to Chris Burke and a two-run double to Adam Everett, of all people. Grant Psomas is now sharing the Jupiter offense with his old system mate Dante Brinkley (acquired in the Lo Duca deal), trying to tell him how the Jupiter gravity can suppress one's extra-base power. He's also been out of the lineup for a week, having last appeared on July 10th, playing third, taking an 0-4 against the St. Lucie team he should be a part of, facing Michael Swindell, Edgy Adoptee Joseph Serfass, and Boy Named Seo Adoptee Carlos Muniz. Analysis: Carlos is looking like he has a great chance to be this generation's Rusty Staub, being pretty much what we reasonably hoped he be, perhaps even a little more, maybe batting cleanup on a pennant winner, but it's no reflection on him that the club gave up too much talent that was blossoming much sooner than they gave it credit for, exhibiting a lack of patience and faith in their own development system. That makes Jacobs this generation's Ken Singleton. Maybe.

Delgado had the tag of "poor defensive player" when he joined the team. I've seen him play a good first base this year.

Things are shifting back in the Mets' favor a bit on this one. Still, on a basis of WARP/$, the Marlins have to be happy about this deal.

WAPR-3 (wins above replacement, prorated out to a 162-game season) Delgado 4.6 Jacobs 2.3 Petit -0.3 $ / WARP-3 Delgado $2.93M / WARP-3 Jacobs/Petit $0.16M / WARP-3 the fish are getting 18 times the wins per dollar spent. and that's with the likely false assumption that they're paying petit the $327k to play in AAA.

Call it a wash, considering Psomas' salary isn't included.
