BLC: Ben Folds Five Challenges The Eagles
ScarletKnight41 Apr 05 2006 02:14 PM |
Han Solo - are you up for a battle?
|
sharpie Apr 05 2006 02:23 PM |
No asking. People must accept challenges. You put up your songs first, SK.
|
metirish Apr 05 2006 02:28 PM |
Does Ben Folds have ten songs?

God love her, she's so polite!

Stop busting balls irish. Here's a Ben Folds Five Discography.
|
sharpie Apr 05 2006 02:34 PM |
I wasn't the one who said they didn't have 10 songs. I know they have a lot of songs. Stop busting my balls, Willets.

That's why I said "stop busting balls irish." You must be so used to busting balls that you have a guilty conscience. Either that or you saw the post in the three milliseconds it was up before I edited out your name which I'd mistakenly put in there in place of irish's. Just busting your balls. :)

I accept the challenge from the band I've never heard of.
|
ScarletKnight41 Apr 05 2006 03:00 PM |
In that case, let's get ready to rumble!
|
HahnSolo Apr 05 2006 03:04 PM |
For the Ben Folds Five-challenged like myself, can you let us know which albums we can find these tracks on?
|
metirish Apr 05 2006 03:06 PM |
I have heard of Ben Folds, I just always thought they had a kinda cult following, of the ten songs posted I could not hum one...SK please give us links.
|

A friend of mine who is a Ben Folds fan has left me his key so that I can pick up his mail. I'll go to his apartment and borrow his Ben Folds CDs to listen to these songs.

That's using your noggin.

OE: Sharpie's quicker than me.
|
Willets Point Apr 05 2006 03:44 PM |
Wait a tic, there's only three dudes in Ben Folds Five?
|
Edgy DC Apr 05 2006 03:45 PM |
Uh, duh, it's like only their ironic trademark. Ben Folds Five
|
Willets Point Apr 05 2006 03:47 PM |
|
And you're both quicker than I.
|
cooby Apr 05 2006 03:50 PM |
I like how both groups have various head slanting directions

When the band first came out with "Battle of Who Could Care Less" (which got a ton of airplay before "Brick" no matter what Wikipedia says) I didn't realize there was a person named Ben Folds and thought it was just an odd name: Ben (action verb) Folds Five (of what? Towels? Sheets?).

Willets Point Apr 05 2006 04:02 PM |
"Song for the Dumped" should get votes just for being the most honest break-up song ever.

Normally I would abstain from a challenge when I was not familiar with the music from one of the bands. But since I was challenged, I've got to respond.

Eagles lead by 3 with 35 minutes to go.
|
sharpie Apr 07 2006 03:17 PM |
It's a final.
|
ScarletKnight41 Apr 07 2006 03:54 PM |
I didn't know I was supposed to vote in my own challenge.
|
sharpie Apr 07 2006 04:12 PM |
Not required but suggested. Hahn voted 8.5-1.5 for the Eagles.
|
seawolf17 Apr 07 2006 09:48 PM |
Tough break; if I had the time, you would have gotten votes from me also. That's what makes this whole thing bunk, but it's fun at times nonetheless.

Given the time, I could probably come up with some acts that committed far worse crimes against rock than The Eagles.
|
Elster88 Apr 08 2006 06:07 PM |
|
It's hard to figure how a non-rock band killed rock n' roll.
|
sharpie Apr 08 2006 07:53 PM |
"Wrecked" not "killed."
|
Edgy DC Apr 08 2006 08:16 PM |
The Eagles did not open the door for worse to come. Far better bands did that.
|
Willets Point Apr 08 2006 09:17 PM |
Nirvana = good
|
Edgy DC Apr 08 2006 09:31 PM |
Aye.
|
Frayed Knot Apr 09 2006 11:24 AM |
It's pretty easy to take that kind of reasoning to the Nth degree and use it to condemn a lot of bands:
|
Edgy DC Apr 09 2006 12:03 PM |
Yup.
|
Rotblatt Apr 13 2006 06:56 PM |
For your future playlist, Scarlett, might I suggest Ben Folds Five's live cover of a Dr. Dre classic, "B-tches Ain't Sh-t"?
