TWiB Notes -- Week of April 1 - 7

Phillies @ Nationals tonight (Tues) which of course means the return of Harper

Expect much booing, gnashing of teeth, columns of ink, etc.

So far I've been unable to confirm the rumor that he's already been in a confrontation with DC writers.

The story goes that one asked him about his favorite people, places, or things in Philadelphia so far and that Bryce responded with a terse; "That's a Noun question Bro!"

Re: TWiB Notes -- Week of April 1 - 7

Harper thanked Nats fans with a generic note on instagram today. I'm sure they'll boo his ass, but I hope they all read the WaPo piece yesterday on his free agency. As we now know, he wanted years/security more than AAV and didn't want to mess with FA again. He thought he was gonna re-sign in DC and the Nats then supposedly dropped their initial 10-year/$300M offer to 12-years/$250M with deferments through 2072 (2072!!!), and that's when he knew when he was gonna bail.

SF Giants deal three minor league players to Toronto for defensive CF specialist Kevin Pillar

Odd trade for opening week, but apparently SFG have been after him all winter and the two teams just now figured out a satisfactory package

The Nationals and their fans showed the world what we already know: that they are classless pieces of trash. What kind of professional organization tweets this:

Phillies 8 Nationals 2 in the 8th and Harper just hit a long home run.

Zack Greinke, who got roughed up by the Dodgers on opening day [7 ER in 3-2/3 IP] had a slightly better outing in start #2 vs SDP on Tuesday: 3 earned on 6 hits over 6 innings

Oh yeah, and he also added 2 HRs and 4 RBI with the bat

Prob would've been a better joke if Harper had left Philly instead of signed for Philly, but that's still an ok Fresh Prince joke by me.

Last person to do that was Madison Bumgarner 2 years ago to the date.

his opponent on that day? Zack Greinke.

Phils become the final team to drop from the ranks of undefeated, losing this afternoon to the Nats 9-8

Nats were winning most of the afternoon but then their bullpen struck again and coughed up 4 in the 8th.

Phillies, though, returned the favor by giving up 2 to tie the game in bottom 8 then David Robertson came

out of their pen in the 9th and went: SINGLE, WALK, WALK, walk-off WALK

Matt Harvey getting his ass handed to him tonight, 6 runs scored on 8 hits and a walk, he is still laboring in the 3rd

Re: TWiB Notes -- Week of April 1 - 7

Final Harvey line: 4 IP, 8 runs all earned, 10 hits, 2 walks, 5 K for the now 1-6 Angels

At 91 pitches over those four innings, the Angels can at least be happy that the Dark Knight got his work in.

Cleveland's Trevor Bauer became the second pitcher in a week to get pulled with a no-hitter going. 7 innings, 8 K, 6 BB, 117 pitches

In Bauer's first start this season he went seven inning while giving up only one hit, so that's now one hit across 14 frames for the season

Indian relievers kept his no-no going through the 8th but the Jays got 1 run on 3 hits in the 9th

The last no-hitter for the Injuns was Len Barker's perfect game, also against Toronto, in 1981
