MFYs lost a 3-1 lead and fell in Houston 4-3. GW hit was a broken bat infield squib after Ottavino gave up a walk and a single. Ottavino was throwing a pitch every 40 seconds, we'd have hated having him.

Can't speak to Ottavino last night, looks like Fangraphs doesn't have the game by game pace for that yet, but overall the league average pace is 25.4. Eight Drinks is about 26.4 so a solid second slower than average but not like, crazy slow. Though he was 28.9 on Saturday's appearance, and 33 earlier in the year. So he clearly slows down glacially at times.

I wasn't actually timing it, I was just trying to watch the game. As soon as a guy got on base, things got desperately slow. Just curious what is being timed? does it start when he receives the ball or when the previous pitch hits the mitt?

yeah, I was just curious about the data. ;-) It's Pitch F/X timestamps, so basically when it hits the mitt. I don't know how they filter for things like throws to first and mound visits. I guess they throw those out.

- after scoring three times in the 7th & 8th innings on Monday night to overcome an MFY lead, the Astros scored four times in those same frames to come from behind on Tuesday. 6-3 was the final. Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Baltimore anymore. - And speaking of slow and frustrating pitchers who are currently MFY property, Gio Gonzalez is somehow 1-1 after 2 starts with the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre Hyphens* despite a 7.20 ERA and 1.50 WHIP In 10 total innings pitched so far vs AAA hitters, GG has thrown 165 pitches/101 strikes, although there's no record of how many laps around the mound he's taken between pitches and batters - Billy Hamilton, currently a-slappin' and a-sprintin' [.265/.297/.265 in 37 PA] with the Runnin' Royals, scored from 2nd on a Sac Fly last night. Seattle CF fell down catching the ball near the track, then had an 'Oh Shit!' moment when he didn't get up quickly enough and the relay home wasn't all that close. How many active players do you suppose have more career triples than HRs? This isn't a quiz as I have no idea, but BH does: 34 to 21 over 2,500+ ABs. And I'd bet several of those HRs were of the inside-the-park variety which are pretty much just triples only with a bonus prize thrown in. * It's actually the Railriders because every minor league team these days seemingly is required to have a two-word or compound word 'Branded' nickname, but I've long thought that naming S-W-B the 'Hyphens' would be far more original.

Scoring from second on a sac fly is one of a handful of plays I've been waiting my whole life to see — plays I know have occurred in baseball history but are lost in the lore.

MFYs get swept in Houston. Guy breaks into Nick Markakis' home and steals 5 guns and 20K in cash. --I guess if you have 20K sitting around in your house you need 5 guns to protect it
