He was from New Hampshire, and had the look and feel of the Yankee Redneck stereotype who supports the NASCAR track up there.

In NASCAR terms McGowan would be one of those back-of-the-field strokers whose car has no sponsor on the hood and an ambition to only avoid wrecks and finish within 5 laps of the winner.

I dont recall any actual games he worked in

Re: Memories of Kevin McGowan

Clear memory of Kevin McGowan getting racked (or wracked) around in the first game of a doubleheader, last week of the 2017 season against the Braves. Also part of a 17-5 shellacking at Wrigley that September.

Went on the fan-produced Good Fundies podcast -- not affiliated with any media company -- as a major leaguer, which is the way to be.

Was surprised when he was DFA'd so soon, because every non-hyped reliever who makes it to the bigs seems so admirable. Felt same away about Chasen Bradford.

One of only two players to reach the big time from New Hampshire's Franklin Pierce University — Steve Hathaway in 2016 an McG. in 2017.

I wonder if the long-dwindling share of players from northern New England and the upper Midwest will increase with global warming.

Vaguely remember his long hair, but have no game-specific memories.
