With his sixth-inning blast off Patrick Corbin, Michael Conforto breaks his third-place tie for most regular season home runs by a Met at Citi Field, moving up to 39, one ahead of Curtis Granderson and eleven behind David Wright for second place. For those thinking long-term in this age of contract extensions for budding superstars, it was Michael's 77th overall, placing him 175 behind Darryl Strawberry. TOP TEN CITI FIELD HR LEADERS Regular Season/2009-2019 Duda 71 Wright 49 Conforto 39 Granderson 38 Flores 37 Cabrera 30 I. Davis 30 Cespedes 28 Murphy 27 Reyes 25 Only active Met within range of the Top 10 at the moment is Travis d'Arnaud, at 22 and holding in 11th place. Strong years will catapult Brandon Nimmo (12; 17th), Todd Frazier (10; T-19th), Dom Smith (8; T-22) and Juan Lagares (8; T-22) into the conversation. New to the annals as of Saturday: J.D. Conforto, at 41, within 9 of Wright. Nimmo ties Hairston for 16th with 13. Alonso, at 4 (after 4 games), has as many as Mesoraco, Cuddyer and Andrew Brown.

With Conforto on the IL and Nimmo sidelined by a stiff neck, it could be said very loosely that as of last night, the active Mets Citi Field HR leader is...Pete Alonso, with 8. Actually Alonso, Rosario, Smith and Lagares each have eight, a rare instance of active Mets tied with a relatively significant total and no company from any predecessors (though it feels like Lagares is from an other era at this point). Together they have forged a four-way tie for 23rd place. Unlike Rosario, Smith and Lagares, Alonso just got here. Conforto's holding steady at 43, in third place, seven behind Wright; Nimmo is still tied for 16th with 13. D'Arnaud left us in eleventh place, with 22. OE: Ah cripes, I forgot Todd Frazier is alive and well. He has 12, putting him in 18th place, so never mind the elevation of Alonso to active leader status among healthy players. We might have to wait another homestand or two for that.

J.D. Davis entering the picture with 3. He in fact holds a 1.086 OPS at Shea II, which would make him some kind of leader depending on sample size requirements.

Amed Rosario ties Pete Alonso and Jason Bay for 20th with his 20th. Michael Conforto pulls six ahead of Curtis Granderson and within six of David Wright by hitting his 44th. Adeiny Hechavarria becomes the third current Met with three Citi Field Met home runs, joining J.D. Davis and Jeff McNeil.

Frazier enters a three-way tie with Nimmo and Hairston for 16th with his 13th Citi Field home run. Rosario ties Nieuwenhuis for 19th with his 11th Citi Field home run. Smith is in a three-way tie with Plawecki and Francoeur in 23rd place, each Met having nine Citi Field home runs apiece.

Alonso, who has homered more in less than half a season than Jason Bay did in three fancy free years, is now in a three-way tie for 19th place with Rosario and Nieuwenhuis.

Give the guy a chance, he has just 33 career games at the park. Everyone ahead of him, I'm sure, has significantly more. As it is he's got slightly more than half his HRs at home (12 of 23) despite playing not quite half his games there (33 of 70)

I like the setting the nominally active guys — Céspedes, Nimmo, and Rivera — in bold italics. Of course, I tend to think of Canó as "nominally active" even when he's in the lineup, but to say that out loud would be mean.

Conforto has passed Wright for second with 50. Alonso is alone in twelfth with 19.

Because I track this stuff, I've been disconsolate that Lagares has been stuck on 8 HRs at Citi Field for what felt like forever. In that way a person who keeps lists will get, I really, really wanted Juan to reach 10 at home for his career before he moved on. Now he has. Reached 10, I mean.

So Alonso could very well be in 3rd place (and almost certainly in 4th at worst) before the end of his second season despite having played in just two of the twelve seasons of the stadium.

Sophomore jinx. But if he hits, say, 38 or so, I won't be surprised. They'll try to pitch him differently, and I expect he'll be pitched around quite a bit. Important to have a good power bat behind him ready to clean up.

And if half-ish of those 40-ish come at home it'll put him in 4th place for stadium history just a few behind Wright. Slightly more than 40, and/or with a better H/R mix, and he moves into 3rd. Either way, as long as we don't hear a sentence starting with -- 'and in a striking similarity to the injury Yeonis Cespedes suffered, Pete Alonso was placed today on ...' -- at some point next year, 4th place is all-time is about the worst he'll wind up in despite not being there for nearly 85% of the stadium's history.
