Stephen Matz has had a terrific start to his 2019 season and one hopes his confidence is in good condition as he takes on the Phils and tall, righthanded, iffy, third-year, make-or-break starter Nick Pivetta.

    Gagnon really taking one for the team here. at least they are doing that and not burning anyone meaningful. hopefully his replacement for tomorrow is already en route from Syracuse.

    For a team that was in first place this morning the Mets embarrass themselves almost every night. I mean scoring 6 and hanging on for dear life is better than scoring 2 and barely hanging in but they're a wreck out there.

    Steven Matz was only the 5th pitcher in MLB history to give up at least eight runs without recording an out. Of the five, one was a Met - Bobby Jones. And another was an ex-Met, Paul Wilson, who did it twice.
