Awesome. Mets day game at 1 p.m. My son's middle school game at 4 p.m. I should get a ton of work done today.

That's not how you spell Travis' last name SNY. All you had to do was copy and paste.

I was thinking that Rosario could probably use a day off too.

He prob could, too, but our gold glove backup shortstop Todd Frazier is still rehabbing in single A.

Amazing how all those camera flashes are going off in an otherwise deathly still crowd.

But yeah, this is a good day to give Jeff McNeil a game at second and put aside the outfield adventures for a day.

Heck, play Smith in left. You know you want to.

The entire Mets team has 'dribbler to the infield' power today.

All three hits so far are of the IF variety.

Alonso's slumping, dArnaud may never hit again, Broxton is Broxton, but Cano. .192 hitter

Just as I was thinking that we might remember this trip to Phillie as the series when Alonso fell to earth, he almost undresses Arrieta and (finally) knocks him out of the game.

Tying run up in the form of CanĂ³ and possibly Conforto. I'm guessing they're going to a lefty.

Well Petey did the right thing, rather than swinging for the fences down by two w/no one on, and then hustled enough to bring the tying run to the plate.

Unlike in recent years, Philly actually has some competent OF defense out there.

That may or may not come into play here.

Morgan gets one out of the two lefties he was brought on to face.

Now it's time for the righty bats to hector Neris

Ramos, hitting for dArnaud, gets hit in the arm and he looks hurt ... which could be a problem if this game continues.

I wouldn't think you could hurt Ramos by hitting him in one of those meaty arms.

That's a wicked splitter, but it's usually dropping out of the strike zone.

None of these splitters are in the strike zone, so if they can just lay off ... tall order I know.

Re: IGT 4/17 at PHI: To Right The Ship, We Turn To Wheeler's 7.47 ERA

I'm still thinking that Keon Broxton's lousy throw on the sac fly for the first run felt like the TPotG.

It was a can of corn, but he was playing much deeper than Lagares or even deeper than Nimmo and possibly Conforto. He had to make a running catch whereas Lagares would have had it lined up. Then, rather than turning his hips, setting and throwing, he tossed it in on the run and got nothing behind it.

That said, one thing I never realized before this series is that by catcher standards, Realmuto can really motor.
