Flexy is in "the best shape of his life" as you may know. I like him. Predicting a W, right now

Glad they got the W last night because I have no confidence in Sexy Flexy.

Flexy giving up too many baserunners and runs. Ramos showing to be a shitty catcher.

Tidbits:

McNeil became the fastest Met to reach his first 100 hits.

Mets have the most unearned runs in MLB.

Team ERA also amongst the worst too.

Alonso xray on hand was negative.

Do any of us have a good idea of what he's asking?

Re: IGT April 20 NYM @ STL

Most recently he is "said to be open" to a one year deal ... which by this point is more like a 7/8 of a year deal and that's only if he's ready to jump right into things which he likely won't be.

One theory on the problems in Boston, where their staff is challenging the Orioles for the worst ERA in the majors, is the idea that none of their pitchers were ready to answer the bell on

account of the decision to 'save' their arms by essentially having all of them skip spring training. Turns out that maybe a bunch of simulated and intra-squad stuff doesn't get you as ready

as real competition, or even fake real competition.

iow, it'll be tough to expect Kuechel, now 31 y/o, four seasons removed from his CY year and more than six months since throwing his last pitch in anger, to just hit the ground running wherever he winds up.

I'd rather sign Gio since it looks like he'll opt out of his Yankee deal today. He'd be ready to go right away; Keuchel would take at least a month. Time's a-wasting.

The problem is that since he has opted out, the MFYs have two days to release him or trade him, and I doubt they'd release him knowing the Mets might sign him and then he'd make them look foolish by pitching well.

Re: IGT April 20 NYM @ STL

What choice do they have?

If teams were interested in giving up anything for Gio he wouldn't be have signed a late-spring minor league deal in the first place and he certainly hasn't enhanced his attractiveness in his three AAA starts [6.00 ERA; 11.4 H/9]

The bigger problem with Gio is that he's not really, how you say ... good.

Had a nice career including a good season as recently as 2017, and maybe the best thing about him was that he consistently made all his starts every year [between 27 and 33 each year for nine straight]

But showing up regularly isn't all that enticing a quality if he's not likely to pitch well. It also means he's put a lot of mileage on those tires since being drafted out of high school 15 years ago and ML-debuting 4 years later
