I'm concerned that the last two times through the rotation, Jason Vargas has pitched better than EITHER deGrom or Syndergaard. Another bad outing by Jacob and they need to check under the hood.

Well, there's a thing. I have not yet been able to conform to the Alonso-batting-second thing, but after seeing him flailing through the evening yesterday when often all they needed was contact, I salute the contact he made to end the game. I see Canó return to the lineup and I'm all, "Oh, yeah, him."
