Bring the kiddies, bring the wife - Going to the Game 2019

I've spent way too much of the spring on airplanes and in hotel rooms already, so I'm figuring to stay around Cleveland for the next few weeks and take advantage of district tickets (general admission and a free beer for $15, natch).

At the very least, though, I'm planning to come back to NYC to root for the Tribe against the MFYs on 8/18 and then root for the Mets against the Tribe on 8/20.

Eyeballing the schedule for our annual summer weekday sojourn, maybe Thurs 7/25 for the 12:10 SD game, or Wed 8/7 12:10 for a Marlins game. Not yet decided.

I just want the Mets to bring their game to the game.

Re: Bring the kiddies, bring the wife - Going to the Game 2019

Any interest in a CPF meetup on Sat, August 3rd in Pittsburgh? My wife and daughter are camping all weekend with the Girl Scouts, so I was thinking my son and I might drive out for that game (it's a 7 PM start, fireworks night). I have heard only great things about that stadium and Fboy has never been to a Mets road game before.

Hmm. Driving through Rochester, or heading south from Syracuse and over?

No, we'd be cutting right through the Roch, take I-90 all the way to Erie PA and then swing south on I-79.

I'm putting it on my mental calendar. I've never been to PNC, and it's only a 2 hour drive for me.

It's a dynamite park, you guys should definitely go. Me & Edgy met there once, when Lunchpail threw up on him.

Looks like our one trip to the Citi will be the Wed 8/7 matinee vs. Miami. That will be me with both kids (wife opting to not spend 11 hours in the vehicle withus).

Fboy and I are going to do @Pittsburgh on Saturday and then a home game on Wednesday. That's some baseball traveling for us!

So, MetFairy is out for Wed, August 7th, but me and the Fkids will be there. Anyone who wishes to join us - Ceets, G-Fafif, Kase, LWFS, Irish, Soupcan, etc - I'm happy to put up the $ ahead of time for 200 level seats so that we can all sit together and soak up some baseball. Give me a holla.

Last chance to join the Fkids and I on Wed Aug 7th before I get tickets this weekend, somewhere in the 200's. Let me know and I'll sync up with you over PM.

Also, got a hotel not far from Pittsburgh for the night of Saturday, August 3rd, as Fboy and I are driving down that afternoon for the game at PNC park. Due to $12 mark up fees per ticket, we're going to wait and just buy seats at the box office when we get to the stadium (they seem to have many empty seats most nights).

Re: Bring the kiddies, bring the wife - Going to the Game 2019

Hey guys, I have an odd question. Looking at the Citi seating chart, specifically section 109, and I'm not sure which rows are closest to the field D-E, or 1-6. I'm guessing D-E, but I'm not certain. Anyone know the answer to this? Please and thank you.

We're heading to the game this Sunday with YoungerPooper's school excursion, where I'll try to avoid involuntarily cursing around familia as Familia walks in the go-ahead run in the seventh.

My amazing, beautiful, and always wonderful wife scored Sterling suite tix to Friday's game through a work connection. We're gonna live like 1%ers for a night.

Well not quite, I guess... since we're bringing the kids but no au pair. But still.

Thanks to a survey on the interwebs (probably--likely--a means to get her to download some app) Mama Solo scored two freebies to tomorrow's DH. Not-so-Little Solo and I will be partaking from section 126.

Taking my kids and mom to the August 24th game. It's players weekend and fireworks night, so it should be fun. I've seen the Mets on the road several times but haven't been to Citi Field since 2016.

Re: Bring the kiddies, bring the wife - Going to the Game 2019

I was looking up some stuff a few days ago and well, Nats Park has been a HR park for at least the last five or six seasons. This discovery was counter-intuitive to me because I always figured that Nats Park was a pitcher's park. And maybe it is. Maybe it's a pitchers' park overall that's still conducive to home runs if such a thing is possible or even likely. And over the last two seasons, Nats Park, overall, is one of baseball's best HR parks. This season, it's playing like the second best HR park in all of baseball. I never would've imagined any of this without looking it up.

Where are you reading that? since 2012 it's got a Park Factor of 97 on Fangraphs, (so slightly pitcher friend_ for HR, but was dead 100 for 2016-2018.

ESPN park factors. And as of today, Nats Park bas the highest HR factor for the 2019 season. Sez ESPN.

Wanna know what's even odder? Yankee Stadium ranks 25th out of 30 teams in HR effect this season. Maybe I'm reading the chart upside down?

I'll be going to Mets-Reds at Great American Ballpark on September 21. I suspect that our faint hopes will be dead by then, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. The four of us will be meeting my brother, his wife, and his wife's mother. It will be our first time seeing a ball game with her and we're excited. Our first trip to Cincinnati. I hear they have riverboats and stuff.

Cincy is a nice town and has a great ballpark. Absolutely get there in time to check out the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. Lots of interactive things for the kids. And Tom Seaver is enshrined! Decent aquarium across a pedestrian bridge in Kentucky.

Have fun!
