I thought Episode 3 of this season would drastically thin the herd of contenders to rule Westeros at the end of the season, but most of the major characters are surviving to fight on. This sets up the final three episodes as a full-on challenge to Cersei in King's Landing now that the Night King has been defeated.

Who do you think will rule at the end of the show?

Of course, Vegas is giving odds on the outcome:

We'll keep the poll open through the end of the series as new developments may change opinions. Let us know if you change. I'll try to remember to re-post the odds weekly.

Do they payout on split thrones?

It all ends with a negotiated truce followed by a constitutional convention which introduces a parliamentary republic.

By the way, I haven't watched season 8, but since I know Petyr Baelish died in Season 7, I'm impressed that his odds are that high.

If it's Bran, it certainly won't be because of his charisma.

My hunch is that Jon and Daenerys will rule jointly, and they'll live happily ever after.

Either that, or Cersei will slaughter all of them and keep the throne for herself.

Little Finger is a fan-theory favorite.

The first couple of Season 8 episodes had Dany "when I'M on the Throne"-ing all OVER the damn place. There's absolutely no way she makes it to the Throne alive. Judging from how they're setting up her character to go all heel turn-- and Lordy, does this show telegraph plot- and character-points now-- she may not make it to the end as someone for whom we're rooting.

Snow's got some strong plot armor to pierce, but I have an odd feeling they give him more of a Christ-y end. If he won out... it would kind of undo some-- hell, all-- of the fantasy-trope-subversion that made Martin's stuff (the meat of the first 4-5 seasons) so tasty, right? Big, dumb, too-honorable-for-his-own-good Savior-boy can't "win" the story that kicks into high gear by lopping Ned Stark's head off, no?

I may or may not have some accidentally-obtained insider information that, if true, disqualifies a number of the dark horses from my consideration.

Give me Super-Slay-Saiyan Sansa, and the points.

I like Sansa as well. The obvious choices are a bit too obvious.

Including the 'break 'em up into 7 kingdoms' ones?

My money's on Sansa, too. They'll be some sisterly tension again, but Arya doesn't want the throne. And Jon didn't want to be King of the North, so I'm sure he doesn't want a promotion and more responsibility.

A Tyrion-led Seven Kingdoms with a reformed Jaime as his 1A would be kinda fun, too.

The Iron Throne is a molten mass under 60 feet of rubble now. There's no Iron Thron to win.

I'm smarter then you think you are.

Its not OK!

I have to wonder how smart you truly are if you post this signature with two errors in it.

As with all the protagonists in Greek tragedy, I have one flaw.

Spelling was always mine.

Kudos for the catch.

I think you miss the point. And, since you missed one, the contraction of "it is" is "it's." "Its" is the non-gender-specific possessive pronoun and I guess this belongs in the "mis-use" topic.

Sparky? You stick to that story if that's what floats your boat. Re-invention is a mother.

You are correct, sir. I based it on this:

And I will make the change accordingly.

The Lords and Ladies of Westeros openly laughed at the idea of a republic, but at least the idea was mooted.
