That Willie Mays cover is my favorite of all the covers we'll be seeing. I expect it's the one cover that I'll never vote against throughout this competition.

What a trio of banal stories ("Playtime is Fun!") listed in the cover lines. They should at least use some exclamation points like pro sports did. Or like Rod and Todd did.

I can't figure out whether Ron Darling's pants are Sans a belt, or whether he's wearing a belt that matches the jacket and pants. or, is he not wearing a belt at all?

No belt. That's an external waistband under the belt loops.

You can see under his right lapel (our left) that his pants are held up by suspenders.

You can also see that he was stiff as a brick when trying to be a model.

Good catch! I totally missed the suspenders.

Ron Darling looks like he needs to make a poop.

I would say that's more a product of the competition than Willie having a great cover.

I mean, a washed up Mays itching his head...

I like to think of it as Willie removing his helmet all suave-like, back to front, like Fred Astaire removing a top hat.

Re: Magazine Cover Derby Round 1.25

Seeing Ron, posing awkwardly in a set of duds he probably never wore again and in a picture he's probably embarrassed to look at today, is why I have no regrets on passing on the multiple fashion magazine cover

opportunities I had back in the '80s. Can you imagine how hard I'd try to hide those things today and how much I'd live in fear of one of youse guys dragging up a copy off of some obscure website?
