Tuesday Night Mets Club now a shocking 3-0 with two walkoffs, and as many Familia Fuckups. But, good win for the winners. I used to look at Gomez as a skinny 22 year old and think, he would get filled out someday. But his ass is just big now. Maybe it was the way he wore the socks but he looks dumpy. JD Davis is alright. Alonso. Holy crap.

Some bad reporting. The Yahoo Sports article is titled: "Pete Alonso sets Mets' first-half rookie homer record in win over Nationals". But nowhere in the article does it say who held the previous record. Was this mentioned on the broadcast? If so, who did he beat? Later

Single was struck optimally, even though it was down and away. 74 mph exit velocity but good angle, .460 expected batting average.



Double was scorched at 110.5 mph. 8 degree launch angle, he was TOO on it, probably because it was inside and a ball. .780 xBA on that one, though that's just based on LA and velocity. I have to imagine balls in that zone don't typically get blasted that hard.



It was the second pitch, the first one was fouled off in the upper/inner section of the zone. Second one was about a mph slower, so perhaps had it been the same speed, he would've fouled that one off too. Then it's 0-2 and maybe Familia gets him to chase and strikeout. Game of inches and all that.

in a vacuum, yeah, just something that happens. was 96/97 on those pitches i think. But Callaway also pulled him after that (well, bunt and IBB) so the confidence says something too.

As long as he has his control and his velocity, I think he'll be ok. Situationally and emotionally, it was a bedshitting. He let down everyone. As noted the second time he "set up" a walkoff win for us. That should be a dubious reliever stat: WOS (walkoff setups)

The Nets got exposed up the middle last night. A good second baseman gets an out on McNeil's grounder, and a decent second baseman at least keeps Lagares at third. But it's easier to forgive Dozier than Turner, who played that ball like he had all year to get Rosario and it was no big deal if he didn't. Now let's bury these guys further.
