Multiple sources reporting Carlos Gomez en route to Miami to take concussed Conforto's roster spot.

No, Zack Wheeler is not headed to Milwaukee.

I think it would be funny if they sent down Wilmer (Font) to make room.

.270 / .329 / .500 line with 6 homers and 5 steals (5 caught, too) in 126 ABs at Syracuse. Not washed-up, has-been numbers. Show the people what you got, Gomez.

The Mets have played 1,825 games since Carlos Gomez last played for them, 23 fewer than passed between Jason Isringhausen's final 1999 appearance and first 2011 appearance.

Those are an excellent pair of fun facts.

Re: The Return of Go-Go

have we heard who's being bumped off the 40 man?

Could Jed Lowrie go to the sixty - isn't it nearly fecking 60 days since the start of the season (is that how the 60 works?)

I'm not sure when you can retroactively set that to (it might be a date before the season started), but unless Lowrie is a week away from playing in Queens (and I didn't get that impression), that would strike me as the best choice.

I've got a better one: Franklyn Kilome.

Re: The Return of Go-Go

I was thinking, even prior to the game-ending K yesterday, that it was only a matter of time for Broxton.

His strengths were said to be defense and at least sporadic power, but he really didn't display much of either -- 7 hits w/6 being singles, and there was nothing special about the way he played the OF

He and Lagares were pretty much redundant and JL has looked much better (and is *SO FAR* healthy) in the limited role either was going to fill.

And then there's the: .143/.208/.163 with 22 Ks over 49 ABs which is about all of an explanation that's needed

Re: The Return of Go-Go

Bummed the Broxton thing didn't work out, but it seemed a little ill-advised to begin with, for the reasons FK stated. Wonder how those 3 bums we traded for him are working out? Best of luck, Keon.

Re: The Return of Go-Go

I also had a notion, with little evidence to support it, that Keon was a little bit in the doghouse. Mick only found eight trips to the plate for him in all of May.

If you're going to keep a guy on the roster, you have to find spots for him, because sooner or later, you're going to need one more hit to tie and/or win the game, and he's going to be the only guy on your bench.

Thanks, Edge. Trade doesn't look lopsided in either direction, but agreed that you'd want to make every effort to see what a dude has if you traded 3 guys for him just a few months back. His walk% was down, his K% up and his ISO was non-existent but 53 PAs isn't a whole lot to tell what's what.

    Re: The Return of Go-Go

Broxton entered Wednesday's game 10-for-16 vs Corbin. Callaway not only didn't start him or use him at all, but per Howie, sounded proud to dismiss the idea that 10-for-16 was any kind of sample.

One hitter vs one very good pitcher, though...if you're not gonna tap that particular vein, you're clearly looking for every reason not to play him. That sample-scoffing business may have been a concept foisted on the manager by the front office, but either way, they were content to let him rot.

(Lagares, who did start, entered 3-for-17 vs Corbin and went 1-for-3 in the 5-1 loss.)
