Re: Memories of Keon Broxton

In my mind he was a guy who'd make Lagares expendable but on the field it was a different story.

It's a shame because I tend to like acquiring "young" players at the moment their careers turn from starter to bench guy, but sounds like he might be of more use in baltimore where they have a lot of other problems.

Wore 23 just like Pat Mahomes Sr. before we called him senior

Oh and needless to say, we "lost" the trade to acquire him. You suck Van Waste-engen

Did we? We come out with 500k in pool money, for a guy with an ACL tear in his knee that was a bad pitcher in his brief majors time, a meh bad 22 year old rookie league nobody pitcher, and an 18 year old (like, days before the trade) pre-rookie ball guy who hasn't appeared anywhere for the Brewers yet that I can tell.

I mean, Broxton provided negative value, so that hurts it, but otherwise, I'd rather have the 500k today I think, than any of those players.

Re: Memories of Keon Broxton

Have to agree with Ceetar on this. That's a very generous amount of pool money for somebody who might not have any value left.

As far as memories? Well, there was striking out with the bases loaded against a closer who was running on fumes at that point.

Anything more than a bag of balls and we made out like bandits. Half a mil in pool money is nothing to sneeze at. Can't see why the O's would want him, though.

Yeah. I'm kinda in shock. I think the int'l pool money may have a better shot at helping us than the marginal prospects we gave up. Certainly a better shot to help us than Keon.

I can't believe anyone would give up anything of value for him.

Re: Memories of Keon Broxton

If you saw the play the O's outfielder Smith made the other day you'd prolly consider he was worth something.

Broxton's issue is perhaps just a matter of not being a regular in addition to not being very good.

I don't think I'll ever have any specific Broxton memories, and in two years, I'm going to be pretty confident that G-Fafif just made him up.

Re: Memories of Keon Broxton

Let's keep an eye on the players and wherever their next $500,000 in international moneys is spent.

Question, However: Do the Mets get actual funds, or is what they're acquiring the ceiling on their potential spending cap raised by $500,000.

Has or had a super glammy girlfriend or wife, and that scared me. Players dumb enough to get taken in by the glammers can be immature and do other dumb things. But she's into Jack Russells, rather than powder-puff dogs like Anna Benson was hauling around., so she may be alright. Then again, they breed them, and that can be a little suspect.

Fun fact: Zack Wheeler is or was with a woman named Dominique as well. I've got to keep up better.

Re: Memories of Keon Broxton

Keon got the game-winning hit on the Saturday of the first homestand, vs the Nats, acting on the sound advice of mentor-to-all Robinson Cano, who urged him to relax, we only need a single here.

I miss those days.

Re: Memories of Keon Broxton

At Roger Dean Stadium, Keon was signing before a game and I was standing there so I said to him "you're good on Twitter" and he laughed. Then I said "you followed me back" and he said, "you follow me, I follow you."

The Orioles had been stockpiling slot money to try to get the Mesa brothers, but the Marlins made an early postseason trade to get more slot money and then signed them while the Orioles were still looking for a GM. (You know your front office is a mess if you're getting outmaneuvered by the Marlins.) It's possible that they no longer felt they had a use for all of the slot money they had. But Keon Broxton is not going to revive that team's fortunes.
