Tonight's blast reminded me of my "conversation" with Rajai early in Spring Training: Rajai had just hit a home run and he wandered by the 3B seating area, where I was, and I said "Hey Rajai!" and he looks over and I said, "way to rake!" (dumb but what would you have said?) and he gave me a thumbs up.

Not to be overlooked: he arrived in the 3rd inning tonight. Mets could have been shit out of luck if he was coming from New Orleans or Las Vegas. Kudos to the Wilpons buying the team in Syracuse outright and ending the AAA musical chairs.

Mets news came at 1:41 on Twitter and presumably a little earlier than that in real life. There was a 1pm flight from Vegas that would've gotten to LaGuardia at 7:30. A little forewarning and he could've been on it.



Then again, the Mets knew they were looking to call up Davis, they just needed to make room. They could've just had him fly here earlier. Maybe he doesn't play Tuesday night, doesn't go 0/4 with 3Ks and a HBP. Worst thing?



It's nice that he got here, and it's a cool story, and it's nice to have the team closer (And owned) but it was just never as big a concern as it's made out to be.

you can get here from PA, you can't get here when you are playing for vegas on the road. sure you could have brought him over the day before just in case, but that requires more shuffling of guys, flights, sitting around in hotel rooms (dont want the guys on the roster thinking their replacement is in the building) and general disruption
