The Baby Name Game 2019

The Top 50 boys' and girls' names in the US from 2018 have been released. One vote per list, per person, reverse scoring (#1 name scores 50 points, #2 gets 49, and so down), so your max score is 100, lowest is zero if you somehow miss both lists. Winner decided some time later tonight.

GO.

It's 2018's names list. I guess I could call it the 2019 game, but alas, I did not.

OE: Missed the part about one vote. Never mind.

My daughter has so many friends named "Maddie' that we refer to them by their last initial. And it's a beautiful name. But she's 22 and I think it cooled off.

Sorry to pick the nit. I thought it was a resurrected last year thread. But, too late for me to play anyway so I will wait for 2020 for the 2019 list.

Let's close this out. There was only one possible combination that could have beaten Monk - picking the #3 name on both lists:

I was thinking of Ava also. Surprised William is so high up, I don't think any of my kids classmates or friends through 2 neighborhoods and 2 schools or any of the kids I hear my wife (a teacher) talk about had that name

It's crazy that Liam is the top name.

Also shocked that Tyler is out of the top 50. Every other kid was Tyler a few years back.

Re: The Baby Name Game 2018

With Liam in 1st place and William 3rd, it's only a matter of time until we join forces and take over the world.

That Willem, Wilhelm, Guillaume, Guillermo, and Guglielmo are nowhere to be found on the list just shows the

continued prejudice this country still has towards my Dutch, German, French, Spanish, and Italian brothers.

Tyler, for example, came out of nowhere in the 70s and then WHAM was in the top ten by 1992. Fell out of the top 100 in 2017.

Of all those names, the only ones that would have been found in my elementary school in the early 1970s are Paul, Thomas, Andy, and Nicholas.
