    I can't recall too many Mets being gunned down at the plate this year. Are we running more intelligently? Less aggressively? Few Dave Parkers in the outfield?

    According to Baseball Reference, a Met had been thrown out at the plate just once in 2019 (Jeff McNeil).

    Dodger Stadium in twilight is a beautiful thing, is it not?



    Similarly beautiful: the Dodgers' collective plate approach. Few strikeouts on a team with at least 6-7 guys who can park it in the seats.

    I've never been there, maybe one day. Probably one of the best ball parks in terms

    of tasteful advertising. It just looks so inviting.

    I mean no offense meant to Bashlor, but what's to be expected when you lift Jacob deGrom for Tyler? With a one-run lead?



    It's the great failure through so much of baseball. Almost every manager is looking for one more pitcher they can trust, when they should be looking for one more inning out of the pitchers they know they can trust.

    The Dodgers MADE that happen. In essence, they dictated the move, with their plate approach and execution. If the Dodgers offense had been facing a teetering Kershaw, I have no doubt they would have hung a more crooked number on him.

    Four perfect throws -- two by Bellinger plus the two-person relay from LF -- have really screwed up this game.

    And maybe only Gomez's try for 3rd was a 'bad send', and even then one could argue that the throw from Bellinger, possibly allowing the tying run to get to 2nd, was the even worse idea.



    Then toss in a GiDP by Lagares and we've made LAD pitchers retire just 20 batters to get through 8 innings.

    ANNNNND, it was the fear of Bellinger's arm which kept Nido on 3rd on Rosario's hit in the prior AB.

    Even with slow runners, it's rare to see a runner NOT score from 2nd when the corner OF has to move sideways to field the hit.

    Turned it off at 6-3, saw a bit later that it was 8-3 and didn't look back. Nice that they made it interesting but that's not going to do it for me, not with 10:10 first pitches for the next week+.
