... making MLB debutante Will Smith no longer a lad in search of his first hit.

Somebody's gonna hit that big, bendy curve a half mile.

If there's a man to do it...

That curve. Man. It's soooo "Baseball Bugs," isn't it?

Two out walks in front of Bellinger = Not good idea

Two-strike offspeed in the zone: an even-worse idea

Hey, Frazier's alive!

Gomez follows with a grounder through the left side that the Dodger scorer will no doubt try to mark as an error. Another hit, and we've got a stew going.

The bunt worked. But if I saw a guy bunt with the (lack of) form that Rosario showed, I'd never let him bunt.

THoUghTS on ThE GAmE!!!

I made it to the top of the 9th somehow.

The top of the 7th inning alone took 4 hours to play:

Yimi Garcia in for Hill

Walk

Altherr announced as PH for Matz

Pitching change, Florio in

Walk

Rosario sac bunt, misplayed by Florio, everyone safe

Davis K

Pitching change: Alexander in

Conforto grand slam

Pitching change: Stripling in

Alonso doubles

Ramos walks

Fraze 6-4-3 DP

On the one hand, these interruptions really sucked to endure; on the other I'm not looking forward to a so-called competitive match where a 2-2 game goes to shit because the first guy you go to doesn't have it that night. The Dodgers went down trying at least. I don;t know why they can't put the onus on the team to have their guys ready to go and simply decrease the time limit on the switch

Two other things: Matz pitched really well

Rosie got lucky on the sac bunt - he basically defended himself against the pitch and it worked out. But watch his triple, Reyes-esque. He's having a good series when we need him to.

Yup! This was the epitome of one of those games where things were actually sailing ahead of schedule (aka: sub-3:00 pace) as both pitchers had single-digit pitch innings ... and then

the 7th inning arrives and the brakes get slammed on. Result = 3:22

Next year's proposed rule changes on minimum batters faced (although I still suspect this is far from a certainty to happen) would have re-done this inning substantially.

But, in general, I'm dubious about putting limits on strategy (banning shifts, etc.). Better would just be to speed up the pitching changes by banning additional warmup pitches after

arriving on the field. That change alone would have knocked at least three minutes of nothing but dead time off that half-inning.

And bring back intentional walks. They're good for the soul!
