In Praise of Doris Burke

I'm glad she's getting the recognition she so deserves. The first time I ever heard her call a game was during an NCAA college contest years ago, well before she was on anyone's national radar. After just that one game, I came away thinking that I had just heard the best hoops announcer/analyst that there ever was. Who was that gal, I wondered to myself?

Agreed. She is terrific.



You should check out the videos of her in HS tearing up the competition. She was Doris Sable then.



There is also a clip of her catching a ball on the sidelines and showing off her ball handling skills. It was on ESPN. She's a treasure.

I go back to Doris Burke calling Liberty games twenty years ago. Terrific then and now.

I wonder if ABC would put her in the #1 booth instead of Mark Jackson who has little to say after JVGundy has spoken but talks anyway.
