RIP Larry Foss, 1936-2019

Larry Foss, who directly preceded Ed Kranepool on the all-time roster, passed away at age 83 on June 15, 2019, apparently in Wichita, Kan. Larry pitched in five games for the 1962 Mets, all losses. The fourth of them included Krane's debut. The last of them was loss No. 119. He got hit hard in his only start, six earned runs in five innings, but didn't give up any runs in his four relief appearances.

He was a teammate on the 1961 Pirate team with Wayne Goss, and I always thought Larry Foss and Wayne Goss on the same team was kinda' funny.

RIP.

No rush for the cheap ass Mets to hold a 1962 Mets reunion now, especially after they were blown off in 2012 on what should have been a glorious 50th anniversary celebration. The Mets have all the time in the world. If they wait another five or ten years, they can hold that reunion in a booth in Jay Horwitz's favorite diner. Which is probably the plan.

By my count, 21 members of the 1962 Mets are still with us in body, 24 in spirit.
