Mets-Padres IGT 7/23

Chris Paddock, who unlike fellow rookie Pete Alonso was sent to the minors for sucking this year, opposing Jason Vargas making his final appearance in a Mets uni.

Tuesday Night Mets Club taking this one in from the SoftDrinkSeats, will catch some Alonso dingers

I would love to hear what Bernie Sanders has to say about Chris Paddack.

Re: Mets-Padres IGT 7/23

Paddack was demoted just briefly and that was mainly as a way to limit his innings here in his rookie year.

Between that and the ASB, he's now twice been given 10 days of rest between starts.

During his two starts in July he's given up just 1 run on 4 combined his [0 R, 3H in 5.2 vs LAD; 1 R, 1 H in 7.2 v MIA] Also 14 K/1 BB

And he famously held the Mets to just 4 his in 7.2 innings of 11-K/1-BB shutout ball back during his 7th ML start back in early May

Mets have plastered Chick-fil-A ads to the foul pole screens like you may have seen in other parks far from New York. Classy.

I don't think I've ever actually disliked the Padres. Or even passively. But I'm surprised to say that I may actually dislike this bunch.

I almost want to congratulate them.

I was yelling the whole time for McNeil not to try and take 2nd base there ... I guess he didn't hear me.

Move over Kirk Nieuwenhuis* ... you've got company.

* also Yoenis Cespedes ... I had forgotten about him in the 3-HRs at home club

It can't be called a "salary drive".

Maybe just a "trying to make you stop booing me drive".

It's like he did a “Freaky Friday” body switch with Alonso!

Seeming to want Canó to get his fourth, Wilson opens the ninth with a walk.

Both of Cespedes's troikas were walloped on the road.

Tuesday Night Mets Club now 5-1 this year.

Was a nice effort to win a starting pitching mismatch even if the offense wasn't much beyond Cano who looks like a different guy when he's right.

Terrific day in the field for Rosie.

A Twitter post I saw on the way to the game reminded me it was the 20th anniversary of the Sammy Sosa Merengue Night game, which the Tuesday Night Mets Club was also at, before they were known for their Tuesday Night antics.

That night we'd intended to buy Tix at the gate but it was a sellout. While I was trying to scalp my brother ran into a cousin who was there working on a film crew shooting the Woody Allen flick Small Time Crooks. He got us in free to the field level behind the Mets dugout as we became "extras" in the shoot, which turned into 3 seconds of Sosa's first inning HR off Yoshi. Came back and won, dammit

If I recall correctly, that game featured some memorable post-game comments from Valentine. Something along the lines of, "It's nice to have the Dominican community come out in force today, but hey, if you want to celebrate a great countryman, where have they been all year while Benitez has been pitching his ass off?

I was at that game. I remember lotsa flags, and maybe a show or a concert after the game. Loud crowd, but in an annoying way. We scrammed outta there before the last out and headed to a Manhattan steakhouse.

And at least Cano was jogging for the right reasons last night, as opposed to Machado.

The only jogging he did was after a foul pop up that he probably should have caught yet didn't come within 15 feet of.
