On July 27th at CitiField: Matz: 9 IP; 5 Hits (three 1B, two 2B); 0 BB / 7 K Williams: 7 IP; 3 Runs (2 ER) on just 3 Hits but 2 were HRs (Conforto & Davis); 2 BB / 7 K

On Rosario's play, after at first hoping that that play wasn't called from the bench I changed my mind and started hoping that it Was a called play based on the idea that Rosario is likely to be here

a lot longer than Mickey and I'd prefer to have a key player who doesn't think that stealing 3rd in that situation is winning baseball. From the talking-to he got from Sherlock between innings, though,

it sure looked like Rosie called that one on his own.



The Ramos one was less critical since there was going to be an out on that play no matter what happened; it just left the baserunner situation less advantageous.

Still not a smart move, but it was also a split second decision as opposed to Amed's dopey pre-planned logic.



I have no explanation for the quick demise of Matz. He was good until suddenly he wasn't.

A reminder that Brodie did nothing to improve the bullpen at the trade deadline when relievers were going everywhere else.

Pirates have nine hits in this game. Five of them in a six batter span in the 4th (plus a walk thrown in) and now in the 7th they have three in a row.

Kinda hard to add to what they have bullpen wise this year. Who are you gonna

bring in and who'd be kicked to the curb? I would've kept Vargas for the pen.

The last 2 spots in the 'pen, currently Bashlor and Mazza, have been interchangeable and could have used an upgrade.

I would have kept Vargas but he was doing well so I guess it made sense to trade him 🙄 #metssense I got to watch that game for a change. Pirates announcers even when the score was 3-1 were talking as though the Bucs would win so I guess the Mets bullpen is legendary throughout the league

I know that's what made it so bizarre. They were behind by two but already counting it as a win!
