IGT 8/6/2019: MIA @ NYM — We Kill Yamamoto

Team with winning record strives for more. Wheeler's first home start since not being traded. In honor of such a momentous occasion, not only will I be at Citi Field, but I will be joined by the loveliest diehard in any section, Mrs. Fafif.

LFGM, indeed.

This will be, by far, the latest in a major league season that Zack pitches for a winning team.

We were in South Bend for a game on Sunday. A big section of the lawn seats were reserved for South Bend city employees, so we were hoping Mayor Pete would make an appearance.

Enjoy. Crowd should be good; I was surprised how loud and how full the stadium felt for a 4:10 first pitch yesterday.

Also you should be happy that my kid and his Mets buddies have run with the SHaMs name.

Great news that McNeil is in the lineup. Unless, by playing, he aggravates a two-day injury into a three-month injury. (That would never happen with the Mets, would it?)

Every team's crowd is better then they're playing great, but winning Mets crowds seem a notch above that.

Re: IGT 8/6/2019: MIA @ NYM — We Kill Yamamoto

Sorry to see Rojas hurt like that, but he should not be out. The rule stipulates that you're allowed to overrun first, and you're not vulnerable to being tagged out unless you turn toward second, even if you're in fair territory.

Yeah, the non-touch of 1B appeared to be the ruling. My first reaction was that it shouldn't have been called otherwise although I wasn't 100% sure either way.

The 'did he or didn't he?' turn once past 1st was always one of the most mis-interpreted call in weekend softball games.

I've seen cases where the batter/runner was called out for merely starting his return to 1st by turning leftward (counter-clockwise) instead of clockwise even while doing so right on the line.

A force out at 2nd was overturned to 'safe' when replay showed that Hechavarria's spikes were six or seven millimeters above the base when he received the feed from Guillorme.

The problem with Guillorme's walk-up music is that this Luis is the furthest thing from being 'whiter than white'.

Guillermore tried a neighborhood play turning a double play and it was overturned on review. It was a pretty small neighborhood.

they allow that now? i thought the neighboorhood play was specifically immune to review? not that it should be

When they started severely restricting the take-out slides, they opted to compensate by no longer allowing 'neighborhood' force outs at 2nd base.

So now those are subject to replay review just like any other tag/force play.

OK, I'm a new-ball-for-the-second-half believer. That warning-track shot that Hechie just hit would have been five rows deep back in late June.

Had a good time with the Lunchpail despite nearly missing 1st pitch as 7 Train was shut down after running over a guy. E to the 7, local, we made it.

Good crowd. Our section up top loaded with teens from Floral Park drinking and smoking among the top rows, they eventually caught the attention of the security force and got thrown out or asked to leave.

Wondered why Yamamoto wasn't there when this thread assured me he would, but the top half of the lineup did their job. The bottom end, like the top of our section largely out of it and not participating.

Guillotines late double may save him.

Wheeler not particularly great but got the Ks when he needed them, the DPs when he needed them, and damn near a CG shutout despite what... 5 or 6 innings beginning with a walk or hit.

Did not think Ramos got enough to leave the yard, only his body language said so.

McNeil is still incredible.

Alonso still a small worry for me, 2 hits and all.

Frazier and Alonso made a big league play.

Concessions slow tonight, tried the cheese steak for the first time and wasn't awful. Craft beer stands all locked down.

Well, I wouldn't call him the furthest thing. Mike Cameron is, perhaps, the furthest thing. Luis is pretty white-guy-ish.

But it is a strange and problematic as a walk-up song.

The Mets end the night a game-and-a-half behind Philly for a playoff spot, with STL and MIL inconveniently if transiently in between.
