I guess when he's playing third, he's Miggier than usual, but I expect him to be more Reubenesque than anything.

Hey, Gary Apple, it was Hendrix that played the national anthem. Come on, Keith. Lay him out for that.

I think the only controversy here is which base Davis is on.

I would've given Davis third base, but it can go either way.

And the Mets take the lead either way.

(I think Davis took off as soon as the ball got loose. He was exploiting the drop, not Merrifield's inaction in pursuing it.)

He sounds like someone who actually didn't know that (rather than just conflated them for some reason) but is spouting "facts" in order to make himself sound knowledgable on the subject.

But either way, keeping track of G Apple's mistakes just so far in this game will take a spreadsheet.

I don't think this one was planned -- it certainly wasn't pre-announced as a vacay. He usually takes just one series off and it seems to be

around the ASB. It's also not like him to miss a BIG series like the one in Atlanta.

It makes me think that something is up, but I don't have any idea as to what.

Though, credit where due, he corrected himself.

End of 4 innings and we're just over one hour into the game.

At this point in last night's game they had barely reached the top of the 2nd.

I suspect it's because they'd rather pretend it didn't happen than bring it up and further embarrass the substitute teacher when half the students are already making fun of him.

Re: IGT 8/16 Mets @ Royals, not the Monarchy

Keeping our DP roll going -- Three DPs last night (one in the air, two on the ground) and now three more already tonight (one in the air, two on the ground) -- which, not surprisingly, results in

our large on-base advantage [5 hits + 1 BB + 1 HBP + 1 Reached on Error --vs-- 1 hit + 1 BB] translating into only a small edge on the scoreboard.

Re: IGT 8/16 Mets @ Royals, not the Monarchy

When your lineup has Lagares batting 6th, even against the Royals, you're in trouble. Ramos had 4 hits last night and there's a DH tonight but Mickey rests Ramos and Nido plays which is an automatic auto. Call up Rene Rivera for Nido who wouldn't hit .250 in AA.

WSH won again so those two loses last Friday and Saturday really put them away as they haven't lost since. The Mets celebrated those wins as if they won the Series, not that this group would know what that's like.

This is reminding me of that tremendous line FAFIF pulled out in Game seven of the 2015 World Series on this forum, when the Royals were piling it on in the last inning and it became pretty fucking clear that the Mets were gonna lose the WS: - "I think I just saw Freddie Patek score".
