Yeah, Vargas had his moments, but I can't say as I don't still get the idea that every such moment is the last one. I like to think that Pete Alonso will hit five homers off him by year's end.

Another possible reason for this is that they're keeping Noah. He reportedly "doesn't like" to pitch to Ramos and maybe the Mets don't think Nido can hold up for the long haul/ pennant race. Just a thought. Later

Hard to see this as selling high. We basically got Nido without the fearsome bat. And we didn't even save a whole lot of money.

I read where the Mets are sending money to the Phillies. There are 3 catchers listed in the Phillies top 30 prospects and he is not one of them. He'd better be the second coming of Johnny Bench (or Charlie O'Brien) behind the plate.

Bossart is a 26-year-old catcher with a .195/.303/.335 slash line in Double-A this year. He is a former college teammate of Bradley Wilpon, Jeff's son. Better than 50-50 he gets a cuppa in September, ala Mike Glavine.

Bradley was drafted by the Red Sox out of high school but went to Penn instead where he kind of disappeared, making only five relief appearances in two seasons while attending Wharton. Jeff was picked twice as a catcher, once out of high school by the Mariners, and a second time by the Expos out of junior college. I believe he signed the second time but never appeared in a game.
