Where is Carlos Gomez?

I know he was DFA'd. Did he catch one somewhere? Can we look into bringing him back?

I'm all on board for Dilson Herrera over Hechevarria.

Gomez is still a free agent.

I imagine if Dilson is to come, it'll be Guillorme who goes down. Gary openly speculated last night that his late double might have saved his neck.

I also speculated that independently of Gary.

Hechavarria is a pretty good guy to have on the team, even though his bat has slowed some. Don;t give up a thing on D when he's at 3B, 2B or SS.

I wanna like Guillorme and he's aight in a pinch but for a 5 or 6 week injury he's not the right guy.

That's fine with me.

Plug in Dilson at 2B, Hech is your utility guy, and bring back CarGo over Altherr.

But seriously, if they DFA a guy, can they bring him back?

Well, I imagine if Carlos Gomez comes back, waiving Altherr is the obvious move.

If they want to bring in Dilson, they can waive, I dunno, Pounders, I guess.

Re: Where is Carlos Gomez?

Guillorme was hitting every bit as well in AAA as Herrera, or as Danny Espinosa for that matter.

Those other guys will give you more power (15 HRs for DE, 22 for Dilson) but Luis's .307/.412 BA/OBA (w/7 HRs in fewer ABs than the other two) is nothing to sneeze at

and he's not nearly as whiff-happy -- exactly 100 each already for DH & DE in just 320 & 378 ABs vs AAA hurlers.

It's been a while since I've seen Espinosa play and, at 32 y/o, he may be slowing down at this point, but he was a terrific fielder at any infield position back in the day. As we saw

last night, Hechavarria & Guillorme can put on a show leather-wise. Dilson is the only one of that group who'd be faking it at SS; he barely played there in the minors and never in

ML. IIRC he doesn't have the arm and may not have the range.

The problem with having Hechavarria & Guillorme on the team at the same time is that they're pretty much clones of each other except that Guillorme swings lefty which, along with

already being on the 40-man, is what likely got him this week's call-up. Espinosa switch hits.

All things to consider.
