Christian Yelich now has a league-leading 39 HRs, three more than he had the entire year of his MVP 2018 season.
He's also hitting for a higher BA this year [.336 to .326] a higher OBA [.428 to .402] a higher SLG Avg [.705 to .597] and of course a higher OPS/OPS+ [1133/185 vs 1000/164]
And if that weren't enough, he's stolen 23 bases in 25 attempts (last year: 22/26)
He's tops in the NL in HRs, 2nd in batting (to McNeil), and T-6 in RBI so a Triple Crown isn't out of the question.
He's also tops in Offensive WAR, OBA, and SLG. T-5 in Runs scored, 4th in Hits, 1st in TB, T-3 in SB ... among a bunch of other stuff
And did I mention that this improvement is over an MVP season?
At the time of that off-season Marlins fire sale I said that I'd be tempted to bet on the remainder of Yelich's career over Stanton's. That position looked
wrong after year one but Yelich has been the far better player in the 2nd & 3rd years, and is looking more than good going forward.
