The Indians are beaten in three games straight. Another team comes to Citifield, that for better or worse, is named in reference to Native Americans.

I really don't like the Braves. The Braves sucked gas in the 1969 Playoffs as they still do today. do the Mets have trouble beating the Braves? Maybe

That stops tonight. Met bats get a look at pitcher Mike Foltynewicz. Mikey has regressed from whatever good form he showed about two years ago.

He really has trouble throwing strikes. Good

The Mets do give up 90 to the Braves in DRS runs scored

Jacob deGrom throws strike, consistently.

deGrom busts inside and Alonso busts out tonight

I'm going to label this one a "Big Game", not only for the benefit that would come from winning a game against the Braves, but also from avoiding the negative aspect of a series-opening loss with deGrom on the mound.

Of all the negative advance notice about Pete Alonso's defense, his biggest problem has turned out to be overaggressiveness to his right side.

That's got to be at least the fourth play just in the last few weeks where he dove for a ball, which he then either muffed or deflected, that

looked like it could be handled by the 2nd baseman had he let it go.

Jackson & Melancon each pitched a single inning/13 pitches on Thursday, so likely everyone is available out of the Atlanta pen.

Doesn't matter though, this game is ending in this half ... and the HBP means that we even now know who's going to score the winning run.

We watched him play, got home about 20 minutes ago. While he did go 0-4 he reached twice on fielders' choices and scored a run and looked pretty spry running the bases. He also shared his favorite New Testament verses as part of "Faith Night," which was pretty odd.

During deGrom's start before last night's, one of the announcers mentioned that in his 10 no decisions this season, deGrom's ERA was 1.55.

Now it's lower.
