Re: IGT 8/25 a Matz Win Game

This probably isn't a must-win from a wild card perspective but it might be if the Mets want to retain any thoughts of winning the division.

Lets go Mets! Beat that pitcher we should have signed!

It's getting to the end of the line for Todd. Helluva guy but with McNeil back, Nimmo soon, and Lagares not awful, Todd needs to be on the bench.

Well we didn't hit any come-backers or into any GiDPs that inning ... so, y'know, there's that.

Gary, Keith, the Otis Redding song and the Black Crows song are the same song.

Speaking of songs, when René Rivera walks, shouldn't they be contractually obliged to play "Walk Away, Renee" or something?

It's pretty goofy giving the team white hats and the pitcher a black hat.

Another DP comebacker but Kuechel blows it.

Weird that Rosario wasn't running.

Weird that the Mets have a manager who is too fucking dumb to think of things like that.

Weird that the Mets have ten coaches, including a "quality control" coach, and no one tells the manager.

Weird that the Mets have a manager who takes out a pitcher who is doing well for no apparent reason.

Leadoff hit. Time for Keuchel to get his glove ready.

Nice job Juan, swinging at ball four.

Now THESE are the Mets I recognize- pitching and not hitting, alternated with hitting and not pitching. I blame the uniforms.

Amed swung at ball four twice. Please SNY, no more fawning over Chili Davis.

I predict that if this game were to go another 17 or 18 innings we could probably get the two runs we need.

I like the no-double-play-ishness of a runner on second.

Let's put in Billy Hamilton to pinch-run for Davis.

Even when they're not hitting into GiDPs, they're certainly trying real hard

Ramos only needs one trip to the plate to extend his hitting streak.

Seven runs scored in 33 innings for the series against what is essentially a league-average pitching staff.

And, of course, the one day you bunch five of those seven runs (three of them on one swing) is also the only one where you allow more than two.

Not gonna win games that way.

From Friday: the Rosario AB, the Conforto AB. That game was waiting for them. I blame the whole weekend on those uniforms.

In the recent six NYM/ATL games, the Mets lost 5 of 6 and got out-scored 32-24 despite out-hitting the Braves 69-54 overall.

They couldn't, as Murph used to say, "Build a run".

was at this one with the family. First game for the 2.5 year old. We got almost three innings in the seats before the 'disgusting' smell of sausage, peppers and onions by our seat was too much for the 5 year old and we wandered off to the shop and the ..Foxwoods? club.

Re: IGT 8/25 a Matz Win Game

the only difference between the Mets during their winning streak and the last 4 games is that, instead of getting key hits at key moments, we didn't.

So much of baseball is random chance and people are loathe to acknowledge that.

They've recently perfected the art of spreading their hits out to one or two per inning, but then excelled at bunching the hits given up to the opposition -- hence the part

about out-hitting the Braves by nearly 30% (69 to 54) across six games and yet winning just one of them.

P.S. there's a chance that getting out-HR'd 12-4 is a factor as well.
