I was sure Arizona was sunk (O.E.: not a Pearl Harbor reference) a week ago. Now they're a half game ahead of the Mets.

Verlander no-hits the Blue Jays, the 3rd no-no of his career (none of them perfect).

The only runs in the 2-0 win came via a 2R HR in the top of the 9th for Houston.

Kate's husband is now the 6th pitcher with more than two career no-hitters.

Who are they? Glad you asked: Bob Feller, Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan, Cy Young, and Larry Corcoran (played 1880-1887)

A's give us a preview of how things are likely to go if and when they meet up with the Yanx in October.

Up 4-0 heading into the 8th with a combined two-hitter, A's hurlers give up 3 in the 8th, and then start the 9th

by serving up a homer to the first batter of the inning (Gardner) and then a homer to the second (Mike Ford)

Oakland winds up taking the season series 4-2 (all games over the last two weeks) but that was after winning

the first four and essentially having none of these games mean everything to them and not much to the Yanx.
