Going for three in a row, and against a WC rival no less, after gaining a game not just against the Snakes last night but also on the Nats, Cubs, and Cards, while holding serve vs the Fillies and Brewers. Robbie Ray [12-7; 4.03; 1.32] faces off against Steven Matz in the hottest lefty-on-lefty rivalry short of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders in a loser-leaves-town steel cage match (I'm betting she kicks his ass)

Ray threw himself into a blister last time out. Matz faced AZ back in June, gave up 2 first-inning HRs and lost.

Saying it out loud might queer the deal, but I no longer instinctively cringe in Nieselike fashion at the thought of Matz. I've got Stroman for that.

year in the Bronx)

More than 240 New York police officers lost their lives that day, or from illnesses related to that day. Why would you be opposed to honoring those officers while we honor the others who died?

I was thinking that they should have sent Alonso home on McNeil's double. There are two outs. Then I realized the team was up 7-0, and you play station-to-station in such situations. Then I realized it was 2019, and they should have sent Alonso home.

It's an unfair world. Sure he can. I tend to wait until the seventh inning to pull the starter in games like this, but 109 pitches wasn't going to get him sent out again. We may see Diaz tonight also.

I think the D-Backs have worn a different uniform each game. And it's like there are some nice elements in each one, but its like they took each one about 10 steps too far.

Mets lost to the Phillies 9-11 in 13 innings in 2004. At the end of 9 innings, both teams had 9 runs on 11 hits. I was at the game and took a picture of the scoreboard.
