Third

Pete Alonso has had the team lead in home runs more or less locked up since mid-season. At 52 with two games to go, he's trailed by a strong second-place finisher in Michael Conforto with 33. That position, too, is as safe as houses.

The real action is in the third slot. With Jeff McNeil in the clubhouse and two games left to play, he sits at 23, but has Todd Frazier and J.D. Davis both hot on his heels with 21 apiece.

Drama. It's everywhere you look.

Re: Third

What I find interesting is that Conforto's 33 HRs would have been considered a great total in any other year.

Re: Third

The season of Daniel Murphy leading the team with 12 is not that far in the rearview mirror.

And Murph spent a meaningful part of that season in the doghouse.
